    Wonka: The Best Movie Ever?

I hadn't heard a thing about it until a few days before I saw it. I love Godzilla/King Kong movies, but the recent American movies have been pretty disappointing. This particular Godzilla was scary, exciting, and emotionally moving. The special effects are amazing for a movie that "only" cost...

    Wonka: The Best Movie Ever?

Haven't seen it. Best movie of the year was Godzilla Minus One. Better than Barbie, as enjoyable as the latest Mission Impossible. Haven't seen the longer films like Oppenheimer or the latest Scorsese, so I can't compare to those. Not too interested in watching Wonka in the theater, may...

    Palo Brunch Chicken Parm?

The food is fine. The chicken parm is fine. Is it as good as the local Italian place at home? No. There is a lot of hype on the internet about Palo brunch. It was one and done for me. We're going to try the dinner, and even if that turns out to be fine as well, I would return solely for the...

Niagara border crossings closed after explosion at Rainbow Bridge connecting New York-Ontario

The video is nuts. Whatever launched the car is obscured. I'm just glad the worker in the booth wasn't killed, and I hope they aren't seriously injured. The photo of the booth is scary, to say the least.

    Totaled Car-Thankful Mom

When I was in my early 20s, my friend had a new car and license that we took out for a drive. We were almost at my house when she cut off a semi. (Not sure why as there was plenty of room to safely change lanes ahead of it.) The semi clipped the bumper and sent us spinning across 3 lanes of...

    Thanksgiving Food

I love dark meat turkey, my sourdough stuffing (but just about any stuffing will do), and pumpkin pie.

Are funerals changing? (Spin off from church issues thread)

We had a close relative die earlier this year. We just had a small family dinner in her honor. No service yet since we plan to hang onto her ashes until her mom passes away. We plan on scattering their ashes at sea when the time comes with nothing religious.

Very minor hit and run accident

My car was hit in a parking lot. The driver left a fake number, but someone else wrote down the car's details. I called the police and my insurance. Not much came out of it, and my car was repaired via my uninsured motorist coverage. :sad2:

    DCL Vacation Protection Plan Reviews

I wanted my policy to cover flights as well since the airlines seem so unreliable. I am not a seasoned traveler, and my husband and I are finally starting to try new experiences. It has cancel for any reason as well, and it is expensive compared to numbers people seem to throw around...

    Unfair in the workplace

How would the employer find out if you were home d/t a pet? If my pet died, I may very well be bereft with grief and therefore unable to work. If I'm not well, I'm not well. My work doesn't need to know why.

    slo’s TUESDAY 10/17 poll - Cats 🐱

I've been a cat person all my life. My husband is militantly pro-cat. We lost our two elder cats during covid and have since picked up four :sad2: We started off our new crop w/ Babu, and I was strongly mourning the loss of my Butters, so we got Dug. Dug is the absolute cutest and fluffiest...

My Toto Washlet has a warm seat. The posted pic is gross and unsanitary :crazy2: Funny, though!

Why do you (or did you) drive your kids to school instead of using the bus?

We have an inherited Mazda that will be my daughter's car next year when she's of age. My husband has had the bulk of the driving responsibility because his work is more flexible than mine. He really hates traffic and literally counts the minutes he spends getting from here to there. I know...

Why do you (or did you) drive your kids to school instead of using the bus?

We tried school transportation when my daughter was in elementary school, but it wasn't very good. She would have to meet the bus at some ridiculous hour like 0630 when school started at 0830! So we drove her to school. She had to ride the bus home sometimes because of work, and she would be on...

Where would you go for high school graduation?

We have been talking about taking a Disney cruise to Alaska when my daughter graduates. While we're still kicking the idea around, my daughter did mention maybe going to Disney Paris instead. My husband says that will likely be a lot cheaper than going to Alaska via DCL! (No, he won't consider...

    Cruise Transfers

This is interesting information. When I booked my next cruise, I think I ticked the box requesting transportation for something like $60pp, but my TA said that it wasn't available to book yet. I found it a little odd, but at least I know the reason why.

    Lunch in Disneyland Park

I don't like the food at Carnation Cafe. I didn't care for the cheap atmosphere or the Denny's style food. Which isn't to say that I'm above eating at Denny's...just not while I'm at DL. The food is much better at counter service like Bengal BBQ, Ronto Roasters, or Docking Bay 7. Counter...

    Alaska cruise

OP, I think your concerns are more relatable than you think. My husband hates buffets, and prior to our first Disney cruise in February, I would have said he hated cruising as well. I'm more on the introvert, antisocial side. We went to Cabanas once, and my husband was more put off by rude...
