Buying Resale which would you choose

The initial buy in price is only one factor, the bigger and more significant factor is the length of contract which of course is how many more years you must pay dues. In 2068, when CCV expires, I'll be approaching 90, so that length of contract did not make sense for me nor did I want to...

    My cruise dropped 2k

This can happen on any cruise line - once final payment date passes, or even sometimes before, prices drop or room guarantee options open up and prices seem lower. There's not much you can do about it on any cruise line, unless there is some sort of price protection, which I don't think DCL...

    Buying Aulani

Thanks! Was just curious as to the UY, the contract I looked at has a fixed week in August but wasn't sure if that automatically means an August UY. It does look like the week is now more expensive than when the original owner bought it.

    Buying Aulani

IDK why I continue to browse Aulani listings, maybe just a touch of boredom leading me down these paths. I'm always interested in the contracts that pop up for a weird number of points but often there's no explanation in the listing for the weirdness. Except I just spotted one for a fixed week...

ROFR Thread April to June 2024 *PLEASE SEE FIRST POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS & FORMATTING TOOL*

Those were great for sure - but sometimes you have to go with what works and what is available and the UY that fits! Congrats on your purchase :)

$115pp on a subsidized aulani contract isn't a bad price at all!

ROFR Thread April to June 2024 *PLEASE SEE FIRST POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS & FORMATTING TOOL*

I bought SSR last year in April or so and at that time I got what I thought to be a good price, $80. AKL pricing seemed to be around $115-125 at that point. This year just looking at the ROFR threads it seems many more people are getting sub $100 pricing. If the pricing had been closer, I would...

First Trip to Hawaii....lots of questions???

I paid $830 for a minivan for 10 days in March 2023, very reasonable. We had free parking in Waikiki at our hotel and then didn’t pay parking at Aulani either because of renting DVC points.

VDH resale prices are lower than I expected.

I mean when you put it this way it’s eye opening. $5,000 for two weeks is $357 per night, I get that, but $150,000, yikes. I too stayed at VGC with my SSR points and would like to do it again but if I can’t I will definitely take a hotel on Harbor or the Westin or something. VGC was amazing...

    Buying Aulani

Ok I feel stupid asking this. On my dashboard I only see my SSR contract. When I go to My Vacation Pts I can see my AUL membership. (Same UY). Will it eventually show on the dashboard , is it because points haven’t been loaded yet?

First Trip to Hawaii....lots of questions???

We didn't do the Aulani Luau but went to a luau called Toa Luau in Waimea Valley. It was excellent, really well priced, and I would not hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a luau option. You also get to enjoy Waimea Falls with the price of admission. The 5 of us stayed at Embassy...

First Trip to Hawaii....lots of questions???

No regrets for us re: Waikiki at all. We did use it as a jumping off point for Kualoa Ranch, Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, I think we even went to North Shore while staying in Waikiki. In the evenings it was nice to walk around, I like the city vibe as I mentioned. Not much is happening at...

First Trip to Hawaii....lots of questions???

Interestingly I am also from Vancouver like the above poster and I really like the city-with-beach vibe of Waikiki. It is a good place to stay to access some of those parts of the island. We did 5 days at Waikiki and 4 days at Aulani. I wasn't a DVC owner at the time so staying at Aulani was...

    Booking, Family of 5

Personally I prioritize having two rooms more than the financial aspect of it... with kids getting bigger I just don't really want to share a tiny cruise cabin with them if I don't have to. The cruise we did with two connecting verandah rooms was amazing but I would have also been fine with...

Current owners: Do you feel that renters are impacting resort availability?

I don't think it's so much to do with "commercial"/bulk renters; as others have pointed out, there's a finite supply of points and rooms and someone would be using them if those people aren't. I think what makes this seem more of an issue is the proliferation of social media groups in which it...
