how much of a necessity is it to have a car where you live?

Where I live it is possible to go without a car and some do. We just have 1 car because my dh's job moved away from public transportation. I can walk to convenient stores, some restaurants etc and a bit further to more stores. I can take 1 bus nearby that goes to a few more places such as the...

Give your students a heads up to start preparing for student loan payments resuming 60 days from June 30

My daughter who graduated in 21 (Bachelors) and 22 (master's) is fully aware of when she needs to start paying. She does not need anyone to tell her. Her job has been paying a bit each month since she started right after her BS so she has a decent start.

How often do buses pass through your neighborhood?

I live on slightly windy steepish hill and the only bus I've ever seen is a bus for special needs that is a small bus/minivan though not sure if anyone local rides it this year. What would school children of today be stunned to learn about your school?

My elementry school was considered a walker's school so no busing. If the weather was bad they would simply let us leave. No calls home or anything - I guess everyone either had a key or had someone at home. We could go home for lunch if we wanted in elementary school as well. My high school...

My kids had both flyers and 3 scholarstic book fairs a year. I helped at many of the book fairs. Some kids...

    lost passport

Sorry yes I am talking about a US Passport. We actually do have one local walk in place for regular and expedited passport (not the emergency ones) that I found when looking up locations. lost passport

has anyone ever lost/misplaced a passport at home that they can't find. We simply can't find my daughter's passport and she is hoping to go to Canada in May. I know if she applies for a replacement one and then finds the old one it is not valid. The timeframe is iffy so if she does order a new...

How often do you visit the next nearest town to your town?

@tvguy Maybe it is California thing but where I live a county is not a city. It is just a name for an area that has certain functions for a group of cities/towns such as a district attorney's office. Honestly I don't know what an incorporated city really is beyond an online term - not really...

When was the last time you were in your local police station?

Never for official police business (other than with a friend and they told her where to go for a parking ticket sitution). Unofficially our police station has a community room in the front (so you don't go into the actual police area so I've been to that part a few times. Outside there is a an...

I ordered twice both recently. It took about 16 days to arrive each time. The first order everything arrived fine and is exactly what I ordered. We got stuff like dungeons and dragons dice and a kalimba. The second one arrived yesterday at my sister's address so I haven't seen it yet. I did...
