DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

Just mathematically-speaking, if the 8-10% figure includes the DAS pass holder’s entire group, that would mean that only 2-3% of guests on any given day would hold a DAS pass themselves. (Assuming an average of 3 additional guests attached to each pass). I’m not sure that Disney would institute...

The more I think on this… Say 8-10% of guests on any given day hold a DAS pass. And, each of those guests, on average, has 2 or 3 people connected to their pass. That means that, on most days, 25%-40% of guests have very little need to purchase Genie+. (I’m thinking it’s a fairly small...

Wow…ok…I didn’t say anything about DAS, waiting in line with medical issues, or accommodations. I was just pointing out that timing is a logistical challenge for ALL Disney guests. And that the challenges specifically alluded to by the previous poster apply to every guest who purchases Genie+.

These are things that all Disney guests who purchase Genie+ have to deal with.

I tend to agree with you on this. We spent a week at WDW with grandparents along. They were in fine health for their age (no DAS needed) but…they needed a long break every afternoon. They just couldn’t last a full day on their feet in the summer sun. I guess maybe it was their choice to not...

It’s all good :) It’s so easy to miss info when the process is overall pretty confusing.

It’s not really fair to compare DAS with Genie+ since the latter is a paid upgrade. You really need to compare DAS with people simply using standby. I will add that this flexibility may be another perceived advantage of DAS over standby, and even over the paid Genie+ upgrade. People who...

I’m still 3 pages behind so I apologize if this has already been mentioned. On today’s Disney Dish podcast, Len Testa did an analysis of DAS numbers. It was an interesting listen. Editing to add: as I’m catching up I see that someone already posted it in the last page or two. This thread is...

No, my question was about charging different able-bodied people different prices. ie: charging able-bodied people for genie+ lightning lane usage versus not charging the 5 able-bodied people in the DAS pass holder’s party for lightning lane usage.

Thank you for this explanation and, just to be clear, I never said I was angry. :) The entire accommodation process is incredibly complex (as I’ve come to appreciate over the course of this thread). I was honestly just wondering about the considerations when charging some people but not others...

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

Still reading, and still learning. Can I ask a, perhaps, stupid question? Now that Disney is charging to use the Lightning Lane, do they need to be cognizant of fair pricing amongst all of their able-bodied guests? In other words, would an able-bodied person who paid for Genie+ have any right...

Yes, thank you; that’s what I was getting at. You stated it better than I did. I know that a certain percentage of people will be struggling to provide care during their waiting period, but a certain percentage are doing more enjoyable activities than waiting in a boring line.

I tried really hard to ask my question in a respectful way, so I’m not sure the “haha” was necessary. And, actually, I have spent many days with kids with disabilities. That’s why I qualified that superior isn’t the appropriate word in all cases and for all parties.

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

That’s why I put superior in quotes, because I acknowledge it’s not true in all cases. But, for those able-bodied guests who are not spending their waiting time tending to the needs of their DAS companion, I think it’s fair to say the overall waiting experience is better in many cases. As a...

I’ve read every reply up to page 61; I am able-bodied but just want to learn. I appreciate all of you for sharing your viewpoints and personal stories. I have a question / thought. I wonder if Disney is implementing the return-to-line feature to get more able-bodied people back into the queue...

Where do they take your picture on Guardians?

Rode Guardians for the first time the other day and the picture is pretty hilarious. All three of us are looking in the same direction with mega-shocked looks on our faces. My long hair was also whipped around the front of my face a la mid-tornado. None of us remembered the location of the...
