Thanks for the report. We have friends we met on our Road Scholar Galapagos trip who have done a couple Collette tours and like them.

    private jet adventure??

Another consideration is that by advertising a very costly private jet trip, the other trips don’t look nearly so expensive in comparison. $10K+ for China? That’s not too bad!

Happy to. It's mostly about logistics and layout. The park is located in a former business exposition park. There are several areas. The main building, The Grand Warehouse, is in the front. It's not very big, and has a timed entry. It takes FOREVER for them to get thru the line of the timed...

Anyone Going On Any ABD Iceland Trips in 2024

This is just a bit beyond regular daily life for Iceland. I do feel for the population of Grindavik. Iceland has a huge amount of volcanic activity. They know how to deal with it. The recent eruption has had little impact on the rest of the country or on tourism. There are several good hot...

What is the value for you in ABD trips?

We just did Japan on a self guided tour set up thru Inside Japan. I would absolutely use them again. They actually do several SE Asian countries, including Vietnam, so maybe that's a possibility. They also have guided tours, though I can't speak to those. Having been to Morocco, I would want...

Another quick trip report for our family trip to Japan in December with Inside Japan. Short answer - it was awesome. Really one of the best trips we've taken. Long answer - read on... We did an 11 day self guided tour to Japan, arranged by Inside Japan. They do group tours at various price...

    Ireland 2024

For the OP, I have very wide feet. I LOVE my Keens hiking shoes. Sturdy for cobblestones, waterproof for rain, good grippy sole for slick surfaces. I've walked all over the globe in them. I have Keens hiking boots too, for true hiking trips and good ankle support.

Eat, Pray, Love -- But Just the Eat Part: Italy 2023 Trip Report

Did it have a communal trough running under all the doors? See your neighbors, and see what they did! The one we used in China set the lower threshold for bathrooms for us. LOL I have a great pic of dd1 giving the "5 Star Bathroom" sign at one stop some serious side eye.

Eat, Pray, Love -- But Just the Eat Part: Italy 2023 Trip Report

It's ok to have a travel style you prefer. It's not ok to tell everyone else their style is the "wrong" way. My kids had a running joke about grading the toilets in Italy. Toilet paper, hot water, AND soap? Five stars!

    ABD Australia Christmas/New Year's 2023 - Don't Waste Your Money

Well, true. I wouldn't have assumed they were going to do something if it wasn't stated, but I'm also shocked that they got you there but didn't plan anything to begin with. Knowing it's a huge draw, you'd think they'd at least tell families to plan ahead because things book up but "we're...

    ABD Australia Christmas/New Year's 2023 - Don't Waste Your Money

Wow, that is very disappointing. There was a similar trip report for a family that did New Zealand over the holidays last year. Perhaps ABD needs to recognize that part of the world is not good for holiday travel. The Sydney fireworks fail is awful. I'm really shocked they didn't arrange...

    ABD Disneyland/Escape

We did a lunch with an imagineer at WDW a few years ago. It was not part of any bigger tour, just something we signed up for on our own.

Portugal vs Italy Switzerland - Which one?/Vegetarian

We just returned from a DIY Japan trip and I was really impressed with how universal they were with food allergy awareness for my DD. Much more so than most places we've been in the US. We were almost always asked what allergens anyone might have, and many places had menus with allergen...

    Are any trips handicap accessible

Agreed. Riverboats themselves are fairly accessible, but the docks, gangways, and stairs that may be needed to get on and off, or up/over/through another rafted ship next to you definitely are not.

ABD or Viking Cruise for Iceland?

I can see that. Jokulsarlon is at the far end of the "popular" sites. We did it in an overnight trip, but I did get tired of riding in the bus, especially the second day going back to Reykjavik.

ABD or Viking Cruise for Iceland?

Honestly, you can't do it all in one trip. I've been 3 times and am planning a 4th for next summer. Each trip gets longer as I find more I want to do. Having been in May, June, and March, I much prefer summer and my next trip will be August. I'm not sure I understand what "indoor" activities...

What is the value for you in ABD trips?

That mom factor is a big one. Not being the only one in charge of predicting or handling every single problem is huge, and not having to herd the cats yourself.

ABD or Viking Cruise for Iceland?

I've been to Iceland 3 times on my own. I firmly believe the best way to see Iceland is by land. Many of the "ports" are very small hamlets with no real tourist infrastructure. You'll be dependent on what the ship offers, and then see it with 40+ of your closest friends on each bus. There is...

Is the Paris Adventure worth it?

Paris is so easy to do on your own, I can't imagine spending that much for 2 days. Check out the TripAdvisor forum if you have questions. I'll put this here because this company did a great job organizing our self guided1 week Paris/Provence and our 2 week Normandy/Loire Valley trips. They...

What is the value for you in ABD trips?

We're comfortable traveling on our own in most places, but sometimes it's nice to have someone help with making arrangements. We've used a fantastic French company for 2 different trips to France over the years. I can't recommend them enough. Give them a budget, and your interests, and if...
