A friend and I stayed there a number of years ago (2012 I think) and it was fine. Very basic but clean and staff was friendly. About as far a walk as I'd want to do at the end of the day. I think the room came with a mini fridge and microwave which was useful for late night snacks.

It's about a mile away, but Stanford Inn and Suites is a great budget option for large groups. I've stayed in a bunk bed suite with a group of 5 and everyone was very comfortable.

If you enjoy parades even a little bit I would check out the Paint the Night parade. It's absolutely amazing and for me would be the one show I made sure to see if I only had 1 day.

I've done a full meal and I've also just done drinks and desserts, both times were very enjoyable. I never felt rushed when we did desserts only and it was a great way to soak up the atmosphere without blowing the shoestring budget we were on.

Also to note that if you decide to upgrade to a hopper you're upgrading your whole ticket, not just the days you have left. So if you decide to upgrade on day 3 you still pay the difference between a 3 day base ticket and a 3 day hopper

I can't vouch for any of the WDW parks but this was not the case for Disneyland. I got mine done right before midnight and was able to pay with a gift card. It looks like this is another of the many differences in how both parks are run. I paid $9.98 plus tax at Disneyland in November 2017...

If you book a package and pay with a Disney Visa you get 6 months no interest. Beyond that I dont think there's much benefit to going with a package from Disney directly.
