Would you drive or Fly to FL this Summer?

We have been flying for the last 12 years, but this year we are driving. Too many flights cancelled/rescheduled that we aren't comfortable with relying on their schedule right now. We had a family member that spent an extra 2 days in Orlando the week before Easter. I had a work trip coming home...

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

If I were to hop right to 95 it would be via 83 from the York area down to Baltimore.

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

Hello drivers. We will be joining the 2k roundtrip club in a few weeks because we don't trust any airline with our trip. We are coming from Central PA (near Harrisburg), and google maps suggests both heading south to 95 or that inland route that is referenced several times in this thread (81 to...

    May 2020 Car Rental Watch

We are in the same boat. Scheduled May 16th to 30th. I doubt we end up going but if we do at least our van has dropped from almost $900 a few months ago to $560.

Anyone ever use Rentcars.com? (not Rentalcars)

It was half the price of Alamo so I just made a reservation for May for a minivan for 2 weeks. Worth it in case the other rates don't drop.

    May 2020 Car Rental Watch

Just was able to get a minivan from alamo from 5/16 to 5/30 for $870 using coupon AU5592DJK and passholder contract 860292. That's still really high but better than all the other codes that were giving me $950-$1000.

    Poly or Grand Floridian

We are DVC and our last stay was at the Poly. We are going again in 3 weeks and had a similar thought process to you. We wanted to try a new place but loved the Poly. My wife's first choice (meaning the family's first choice) was to try GF. So at 7 months we checked what was available and...

Large "discrepancy" between AMEX rewards for gift cards - point redemption

I just chalk it up to the same reason you can buy discounted store gift cards from places like costco or bjs but if you wanted an AMEX or Visa they are essentially cash and you aren't going to get a discount. Those cash cards can be used almost anywhere while the gift cards are locked into one...

    ME Docs

We actually arrive on 5/28 and we got our luggage tags this past week (I think Wednesday).

Anyone ever received "pixie dust" for celebrating something at WDW?

It really is hit or miss. One year on my birthday we got back from the parks and there was a Disney gift basket (birthday ears, vinylmation, and a bunch of candy) that usually sold for like $50. Most of the time when we are celebrating something, we are lucky to get some confetti or something on...

Monorail loop if you don't have WDW tickets

Yeah, there is a boat outside of the MK that will take you to Wilderness Lodge.

    Affordable cell phone plan

We just went to Xfinity in December and love it so far. Our monthly bill has dropped from 120 a month with AT&T (for 15 gb) to about $40. If we ever are using a ton of data you can open your account online (or on the app) and switch your plan from by the gb to unlimited for $45 a month.

    Trip Insurance question

I don't see why they wouldn't cover it if it was an official rental and not here's 500 bucks to my friend to cover his dues while I get to use his timeshare for the week. We have rented out our dvc points before and know a few renters have had trip insurance, but I'd be looking very carefully...

    Magical Express Question

Your DME reservations don't have anything to do with RAC (where you check your bags at the resort when you leave) so if you are using that service it wouldn't be a problem at all. You just need to make sure that your DME pickup time is early enough to get you to your flight when you get that...

    Do not use WeGoShop

The only time we used Wegoshop was (I think)3 years ago because they had a $100 gift certificate that cost us $75. We had a big order since we had our infant with us and it was for a 12ish day stay. We clearly stated just go to one store and substitutions would be fine for any items. She...

    Honeymoon Dinner Suggestions?

On the arrival night of our honeymoon we had dinner at California Grill. They did the table decorations and everything and then they basically forced us to take our time so that we would be able to have our table while we watched wishes. It was a fantastic start to our honeymoon.

    Ohana breakfast

You can get it at Capt Cooks but I don't think you can get the strawberry compote there. To me that is a necessary part of the meal.

Do you travel to other resorts to eat at their QS?

I can't think of any time we went to another resort so that we could eat at their CS, but if we are visiting another resort we do check it out to see if they offer anything that is tough to find elsewhere.

    Southwest- Only One Confirmation Number?

We have flown SW almost exclusively for our trips the last 10 years. Every time I booked using RR points we would each get a confirmation number, cash reservations were linked with one conf code. I thought that was the just the way their system did it until I booked for this fall and was happy...
