Landing at 4pm, I would just stay at the MCO Hyatt, and take DCL bus to the ship. Staying near the port, you’re not checking in to your hotel until after 6pm. Doesn’t really leave time to enjoy the area or pool even, assuming you'll have to fit dinner in after you get there.

To me, it depends on when we arrive at MCO. If it's in the morning, then staying in the Cape Canaveral area is the way to go. If arriving later in the afternoon or evening, then it's better to just stay at the MCO Hyatt.

Relaxing on the Promenade deck on sea days. Walking around the ship later at night when it is mostly empty. Keeping the navigation channel on in the room, enjoying the music loop. Eating foods I don't eat anywhere else (like escargot)

We've sailed Carnival twice (Horizon & Panorama) and enjoyed it very much both times. We've also been on NCL twice and RCCL three times. While we easily prefer DCL over all of them, I have to say, if I were building what was - to me, at least - the ultimate cruise experience...I would be...

We did the Dream out of Manhattan this past Halloween and the ship was pretty full. If they sailed in the summer, I'm sure it would be a lot easier to fill than the fall.

I think it has the worst appetizer and dessert selections of any menu DCL has. Main course, there's always a beef or chicken option (I don't eat seafood) I can have, but there's no app or dessert that appeals to me. Therefore, it is an easy choice to make it our Palo night. Besides - unpopular...

Our itinerary changed as well. We are on the May 25 from Barcelona. They removed Villefranche/Nice as the last port and and instead will visit Palermo as the first port and the other Italian ports are all moved back a day. I'm happy for the change - no desire to go to Villefranche/Nice anyway...

Me too. Most important thing to note is...itinerary matters! It's the factor that's always been kind of ignored in the countless dress code threads - be it here on Disboards, Cruise Critic, FB, or anywhere else - over the years. This is probably not an issue at all on Alaskan sailings or other...

Completely agree. Cruise Directors on DCL just don't do much outside of introducing the main shows in the theater and maybe a morning show (do most of them still do that?). It seems a majority of their responsibilities is "behind the scenes" - scheduling and whatnot. They have all been very nice...

Hopefully this is true WRT the change to 10 years. At 5 years, the concern was our college-aged children losing their status. My wife and I would probably not be at risk. Would like to see it in black & white, however.
