We stayed at the Boardwalk on last stay. My husband had the same mindset if yours. Why travel to a restaurant when we're surrounded by excellent restaurants. I changed our plans, so carefully made at 180 days out, to Boardwalk area restaurants.
Seems like it depends when you stay. I visited the first week of May and in October. The May visit was classic rock, while October had the Pop music. Maybe the difference was the perceived age of guests at each time.
The fried rice didn't last long, they changed back to noodles already, even saying that they had simply run out of noodles. :rolleyes1 At any rate, it's back to normal.
Universal has Express pass, which can be bought, but is included, unlimited use, for staying at one of their three premium hotels. No scheduling fast passes, just wander on rides whenever you wish.

You did a great job, staying calm even though your wedding party was late to hair and makeup. Every detail was gorgeous. Thanks for sharing! I've heard of Disney weddings, but have never seen a trip report of one.
