    Please be careful team

I live in a state (CA) that’s had some bad press recently. Thankfully, my county (San Mateo) isn’t on the governor’s watch list — yet. Our gyms, outdoor restaurants, outdoor beer gardens and malls (not indoor dining) are open, and my husband and I are patronizing all of our favorite businesses...

    Please be careful team

Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like a nightmare. The only person I know who has had it was my husband’s 99-year-old uncle. He was in a nursing home at the time, so you can guess the end result. Would you mind saying where (general area, not specific town) you live? Just curious if you...

That was pretty early in the game. Were you able to get tested for the virus?

    Will a Disneyland podcast return?

I like Mousetalgia. They cover DLR and other Disney-related topics from the West Coast (mostly NorCal). Yay!

    DL/SoCal ABD Solo Questions

Ask ABD for a pickup from the Grand Californian the day your adventure starts. The car arrives at 1 p.m. or so. You’ll need to schedule a car to LAX for the last day of the tour. (I drove to the GCH, so I didn’t need a ride to the airport.) As for solo touring, are you looking for ideas for LA...

SF/Santa Cruz/Monterey over Memorial Day Weekend

I assume that you’re driving down Hwy 1 from Monterey to Morro Bay because it shouldn’t take five hours to get there via 101. If you’re set on 1, I suggest leaving earlier to have lunch at Nepenthe. We drive from SF to SD frequently, but haven’t had time to stop there in a while. I miss the...

DIS Unplugged: Disneyland Edition Podcast CANCELLED?

I like Mousetalgia. The team is based on the West Coast and they visit the parks frequently, so there’s not a lot of “what you do in California” or “what we do in Orlando.” I appreciated the Florida-based DIS hosts’ efforts to carry on with the Disneyland show, but that iteration was meant to...

Shopping - Love it or Hate it?

Were you drunk when you wrote this? I can forgive the crazy spacing, spelling and punctuation, but your request is indecent. Sober up, dude.

DIS & Dreams Unlimited Travel London and Paris Adventures by Disney Recap | 12/03/19

Will a review of the Disneyland Paris part of the ABD be posted as well?

    San Francisco cleanliness and safety

I assume you’re referring to homeless- and crime-related problems. Yes, there are more homeless wandering the streets now for a variety of reasons that I won’t go into here. And recent law changes have essentially decriminalized many misdemeanors, including thefts of $950 or less, which has...

What to bring a friend in Canada from California?

Another vote for See’s. My brother and I grew up in San Diego, and he now lives in Connecticut. He looks down on most everything SoCal now, except the craft beer, taco shops and See’s. I send him a two-pound box every year for his birthday (customized as his preference is soft centers). My...

    New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

I agree that some of the smaller panels are hidden gems. In 2017 a couple of our favorites were the Eat Like Walt and the Disney and Pixar in advertisements and commercials panels. Marcy Smothers, author of “Eat Like Walt,” brought two of Diane Disney Miller’s daughters and John Lasseter along...

    Which beach near San Diego?

Coronado is beautiful, no doubt about it. If you don’t mind a little grittier experience, check out Ocean Beach. Nothing like breakfast at the Old Townhouse and then a walk on the pier. It’s my family’s favorite beach outing when I’m back home in SD.

    ABD Insurance Opinions Needed

My family always purchases trip insurance for ABDs and any other big trips. We just came back from two weeks in Europe (partly on a British History Tour about Anne Boleyn, so not an ABD). If I’m remembering correctly, I insured $7,500 of the trip (many hotel days were on points), and the site...

Need hotel Rex - one night after safari park and before Universal

Another vote for Burbank. We like the Anabelle on Olive, but it might price out a little higher than $200. Their sister motel next door, the Safari Inn, has cheaper rates. It’s a retro motor inn that has been used in some movies. We peeked inside one of the rooms in March, and it looks like they...

SoCal Must Do Places to Eat

The Stone at Liberty Station is great too, as is Liberty Station in general. It’s located on the grounds of the old Naval Training Center (in San Diego).

Short trip reviews: Knights and Lights and France

It’s through British History Tours. I found out about it on the Anne Boleyn Files website.

San Fran To LA Trip Itinerary - Is timing doable?

Sorry for the late reply. We didn’t visit the Magic Castle because our daughter was too young at the time. I think our only option was the Sunday brunch, and we weren’t there on a Sunday. Your trip sounds fabulous!
