    Coast Guard evacuates woman

Read it on a fb post that came through my feed so no idea how true it it! But someone did post video from the deck of the helicopter. The only thing I hope is true is that she's doing ok.

Disney Cruise Experience is Worth It

oh for sure if you are taking that many cruises you will be looking for something new at some point. I don't mind that they haven't changed the menus in 20 years as I'm about to go on my 7th cruise and there is enough variety for me even without it changing. Cunard ships are beautiful, I was...

    Coast Guard evacuates woman

I didn't see anything about the emergency being pregnancy related, just that she had an emergency and was also pregnant, which of course would complicate any medical issue. Most women are not at high risk for pregnancy related complications - I mean anything could happen at any time, but you...

Best Disney ship for couple only trip

I never minded the pirate night menu honestly (I remember the samosas being quite good!) but as an adult traveling without a kid I could stand to miss the hoopla of the dinner. We are traveling with another (childless) couple who are first time cruisers and while I booked the last secret...

Best Disney ship for couple only trip

I thought about doing something more "special" but honestly I am working so many hours and so tired I did not want to do a "trip" and I was worried about the airfare to someplace much further away and cascading expenses. I want to be able to take another trip later in the year with my kiddo so...

Disney Cruise Experience is Worth It

I don't cruise that frequently although my first disney cruise was in the early 2000's so I've been cruising for a long time. When I decided I wanted to do a cruise for my upcoming 50th birthday I looked at Disney first. I just wanted a "vacation" - relaxing and not very expensive plane...

Best Disney ship for couple only trip

We are doing a 5 night magic for my 50th birthday - I wanted caribbean (relaxing "vacation" and not "travel" and feeling obligated to make the most of seeing things in any one port) and the only other one was the Fantasy with its first ever stop to lighthouse point so prices were bonkers (more...

Try it yourself. there is no downside. If there is something else you want to try you can try that too. Doesn't matter what anyone thinks but you.

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

I think this hurricane was pretty mild compared to some past events at Disney. My memory is not what it used to be but I remember following along with other hurricanes.. if I recall the response was pretty uncoordinated during Matthew and Irma was a major hurricane that was still expected to be...

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

I am not the least bit surprised by this. I think the more expensive disney becomes, the more entitled guests will feel to perfection. It's kind of happening everywhere, entitlement seems to be at an all time high and gratitude an all time low, and both going in the wrong direction still.

Osceola too, and they are very very hard hit by flooding.

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

Also I'd be surprised if they opened up the parks just for resort guests. It is massively expensive to open/run the parks and they pretty much count on them being pretty full most of the time to make it worth it. It would not be responsible for them to open up to everyone until the...

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

I think they've withstood far worse. I've never heard of bad flooding/overflowing at Disney. Torrential downpours are not that uncommon either whether a hurricane is blowing through or not.

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

Yes, but I think that the fact that you are addressing it through social media is a lot more likely to get attention than speaking to someone on the phone who is lord knows where. The people who handle the DMs are aware that you are aware that if they don't do the right thing, it could easily...

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

Disney may have fared very well but it sounds like some areas of Orlando still got hit very hard and they may have trouble getting full staff, plus they need some time to do cleanup and safety checks and stuff in the parks and they may not even start that until the winds die down. But it does...

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

usually people who complain publicly are addressed. It's possible that the manager was just following the direction they'd been giving from higher up, but corporate certainly has the power to make it right.

You can't even get a sandwich where I live for $15! At least Disney isn't fleecing people! (on food for a captive audience)

Hurricane Ian - WDW Resorts Related Updates, Planning & Discussion

it looks like tropical storm conditions are possible through the end of the day thursday and I would expect that they are going to take some time to clean up, so I'd say high probability for closures extending through Friday. How much further depends on the extent of the damage, not just on...
