I found Guardians to be much easier to handle than pretty much any of the screen rides (especially the two HP) at Universal. I can't even do the Universal rides with all of my meds and tricks, but Guardians was no problem with meclizine.

But the race is the weekend following Labor Day, so I'm not sure how much they will actually overlap.

I am DVC and not an AP and I got both emails. The sign up one hit my inbox at 9:11 Eastern time. We didn't have a trip planned and we live in Colorado, so I wasn't trying to book, but I got all of the communication.

On the attraction page itself on the Disney World website, it shows it closed on April 15 and then if you click the calendar to April 16th you see the hours it will be open:
