Sharing info about disability accommodation at MCO

I got good advice about leaving from MCO with my son, who is on the autism spectrum, so I wanted to share the outcome in case the information helps someone else. I contacted the call center for the TSA (855) 787-2227 (info available here: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/passenger-support), two days...

Ugh..rash or bug bites. Help, fellow Canadians, before I have to resort to using my travel medical!

Thanks. Saltwater, don't have pics but will take myself to a pharmacist today. Started at the Space Coast, continues here on Gulf Coast. Definitely some benedryl in my future, as I'm still having trouble sleeping because of the itch. Good info, and nice to know I'm not the only one! I did...

    Customs through Pearson?

Does the direct flight run that time of year? Right now the direct WJ flt YHZ-MCO is only running on Sundays, but that's what we scheduled for this trip that we're on now. Kind of a pain to sort it out for Sunday only (usually we take advantage of adjacent weekends, leave Friday and come back...

    Home Trust Visa

We're using the new Scotiabank Passport no forex fee. It's been easy to use, and the exchange rate is good. It has an annual fee, but the sign on bonus will cover at least the first year of that. I am pleased to see more US establishments FINALLY using chip-and-pin or tap. It seems pretty...

Ugh..rash or bug bites. Help, fellow Canadians, before I have to resort to using my travel medical!

Who wants to spend a day of vacation calling the insurance company and going to a clinic with all the fuss that entails...not me! But I can't find a "matching malady" from Doctor Google, and if I can't figure it out soon, I may have to trudge off to a clinic. I have itchy spots that keep...

Not sure where to ask...need Busch Gardens advice.

Not sure if this is the best place to post my question--it is a theme park and we're looking for strategies--but will probably cross-post. We have this week in St Pete and have fun passes for Busch Gardens. We went today and didn't get on a single ride. It was awful. I need a better approach...

Any difference between Avis and Budget if the deal is rought the same?

Thanks. I had forgotten the connection between the two.

Any difference between Avis and Budget if the deal is rought the same?

We have two car rentals booked for our trip later this month. The Budget car is a Verano and the Avis one is a Malibu...I can't tell if they're the same class or not. Regardless, we'd be happy with either. Curious though if both have good service, or if one is more likely to upgrade or something.

Security at MCO, accommodations for autism?

Thanks Katie. Thanks for the links, I was searching through the airlines, but TSA direct is better. I've sent them an email asking for advice. I was aware of Wings for Autism, which does an awesome job. He flies often and doesn't have a problem with the journey itself. And when we go...

Security at MCO, accommodations for autism?

Hi all. My ds, 18, has an autism spectrum disorder ('high functioning" I guess though he had a different diagnosis before the categories got re-written). Does MCO offer any programs or accommodations that could make it easier for him? We went to the UK last year and Gatwick had awesome...

    July 2018 Car Rental Watch

Yes, we arrive July 29th for two weeks. We have a full size for about $450 US after a lot of work ages ago--and it's only getting worse now. We also expect to be able to find something better once we're closer, but like you I'm glad we have that "backup" reservation!

    July 2018 Car Rental Watch

Does anyone know what rental locations are closest to MCO but without the airport premium? We will not be eligible for DME so something within a (reasonable) cab or bus ride of the airport.

    Anyone buy a Sunpass/toll thingy?

Thanks all. Bankr63, we're not actually staying in Orlando, just flying in and out of there and spending most of our time in Tampa, with a few days on the Space Coast. I expect we'll have multiple tolls pretty quickly after our arrival day overnight in Orlando. But worth the trouble to bring a...

    July 2018 Car Rental Watch

I see no-one's answered your question, so I'll give what little info I have. I've booked with Sixt in Europe and found them dependable and well-priced. Haven't used it in North America.

Tired of the Rental Car games

^SOOO this^. I came to the forum today to see if anyone was having better luck than I am. We do have a backup from Priceline with Budget that includes both drivers, but it's still pricey. It feels like you need a secret handshake or something to get the best price. Costco for me is currently...

Recent cell phone feedback: Roam still the best bet?

That raises an interesting thought too, Sue. I want to be able to receive calls placed to my Canadian cell number. Someone said you could forward your regular Canadian number to your US number as long as you do it before you leave Canada? Which sounds great, but wouldn't that mean you're...

    Anyone buy a Sunpass/toll thingy?

Sue, and everyone, thanks for the feedback. Where would you recommend we pick one up? I suppose near the airport makes the most sense, as I recall some tolls along the way (we are staying near Disney Springs the first night). I will see if I can download the app and be ready to activate. I...

What are you using for car rentals?

That's a great rate, Sue, better than I am seeing. We are picking up on July 29, but keeping it through Aug 12. So looks like I'll be coming home just as you're arriving.
