What is the fine line between being "overly sensitive" and "suck it up"? (work-related)

I think you hit the nail on the head here with the bolded part!! My thinking is along the lines of "A person in this position should never speak to people this way, and *I* never would, so what makes him think he can?". Keeping a record is an excellent idea; thanks to everyone who suggested it!

What is the fine line between being "overly sensitive" and "suck it up"? (work-related)

Background: I work at a medium-sized company and have been here for just over 8 years. The person in the department who hired me now oversees ours and a couple of other departments. I was going to try to be nice...but to be honest, his skills while talking to his employees are *extremely*...

Jehovah's Witness funeral service; what should I expect/ do/ not do?

A coworker's mother passed away and they are having a service for her at a Kingdom Hall in a couple of weeks. I grew up in the Protestant faith and have never stepped foot inside a Kingdom Hall. I'm assuming the basic customs like modest dress are the same, but is there anything else I should...

    (Sea)Lions & Gators & Dolphins….Oh, My! A Halloween PTR/TR with a “wild” theme - Oct/Nov '18

~Hugs~ to you and your family as you deal with your loss, Gina. I just wanted to let you know that your trip reports (both this one and your previous ones) are a great comfort to me when I'm having a bad day or when I want to do a bit of dreaming about a future Orlando vacation. Your reports are...

Are there any vacation destinations that get you as excited or more excited then a Disney trip?

I'd say my first visit to the cottage for the season is pretty much on par with a trip to Disney for me. I call the cottage my "happy place"; once I get there, my stress just disappears :goodvibes

What's the most awesome hotel window view you've ever had; anywhere?

I can't remember the name of the hotel, but it was at London Heathrow Airport in 2003; we had a runway view, got to the room and *just* as we opened the curtains the Concorde was taking off! It was amazing.

    (Sea)Lions & Gators & Dolphins….Oh, My! A Halloween PTR/TR with a “wild” theme - Oct/Nov '18

Hi Gina- First of all I have to say that I absolutely love reading your TRs. These long Canadian winters (I live on the East Coast- the "real" East Coast, past Montreal! :rotfl2:) can really do a number on a person, and your trip reports give me hope that there are places where snow does *not*...

Would you class yourself as popular in school?

:rotfl: No! However, I had a great group of friends and surprisingly enough was fairly comfortable in my own skin. I used to get mistaken for a substitute teacher when I wore long skirts...

    Quoting posts with pics

Is this something new? Only asking because I *know* I've done it in the past, but that might have been with the old boards.

    Quoting posts with pics

It's been awhile since I've done this; how do I quote a picture from a post but decrease the size of the picture?

Prayers and positive thoughts needed for a young widow...

Thanks, everyone...the funeral is tomorrow and there's a winter storm warning. This poor family...I wish there was something I could do. I was thinking of offering to babysit for her in a few months when her new baby is born, if she wants to get out of the house without her older child.

Prayers and positive thoughts needed for a young widow...

My mother told me it was a routine wisdom tooth extraction...super-scary for me too because my husband has an appointment next month for the same thing.

Prayers and positive thoughts needed for a young widow...

I just heard the horrible news that the husband of a girl I used to babysit passed away due to complications from a minor outpatient operation. He was 31...they had a toddler and she is expecting #2. They were both teachers and such wonderful people...why do these things happen?? It is so, SO...

    Cover letter- related question

No, I'm typing out the cover letter and attaching it along with my resume as a Word document. There is no physical copy of the cover letter.

    Cover letter- related question

This company has an online application where you can digitally attach a resumé and/ or cover letter. Cover letter isn't required per se, but I'm choosing to include one. Thanks for the tip- I did see some sites with the preformed script option. May I ask what program you use? I would...

    Cover letter- related question

It's been ages since I've applied for a job (been in my current position almost 8 years now) and I am updating my resumé and cover letter template. Should I add a digital signature at the end of my cover letter, above my typed full name? This is how it looks now: "Blah blah blah........I'd...

Settlers of Catan: Expansion vs. Extension???

My brothers are hard to buy for, but they love playing Settlers of Catan; I was looking at Boxing Day Sales (I know, I know!) and found there are 2 sorts of "add-ons"; expansions and extensions. Can anyone explain to me in layman's terms the difference between the two??

Forget this Christmas cheer, lets talk Christmas misery....

This is our first Christmas without my Grammie as well; it will definitely be hard and a big adjustment. The only solace I get that this will be the first Christmas in a long time that she is spending with my uncle and grandfather in heaven (passed in Jan. 1990 and Feb. 2001 respectively). My...
