March Check-In **Official** Thread (Start with Post #17)

Okay, everyone should be added to this point! As always, if I missed you, please let me know.

In the meantime, let's play a game. For veterans this should be easy; for newbies (like us!), take your best guess.

What is:

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland?
2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to?
3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to?
4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite?
5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with?

I'll go :)

1. Get a "FIRST VISIT" button for my son.
2. That big Mickey raspberry macaron thing.
3. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Thirteen-year-old me looooooved this ride.
4. Probably Mickey's House? If the line is short, it'll be okay.
5. Joy!

  1. The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland? Try to get a boarding group for ROTR!
  2. The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to? Eating a corn dog from the Little Red Wagon on Main Street
  3. The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to? Millennium Falcon ride & ROTR!
  4. The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite? Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
  5. The character you would be most excited to get a picture with? Goofy's son Max (I'm going to wear my Powerline shirt to breakfast at the Plaza Inn)

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland?
We get in mid afternoon so we'll find the ride with a short line. Really though the first thing I do on every trip is take a deep breath and take in the views of my favorite place in the world.
2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to?
Dole whip. I only realized I liked them two years ago and they and eat as many as possible to catch up from all the years I didn't try them. Plus the churro toffee everyone talks about. Shoot! And the beer cheese soup from F & W!
3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to?
Pirates!
4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite?
Indy for two of the group and Goofys Sky school for my daughter. I'm making her try some new rides so she said I have to go on GSS with her.
5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with?
Goofy.

Ooohhh I'll go!

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland?
- eat lunch at Cafe Orleans after a stroll down main street.
2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to?
- fried chicken at Plaza Inn, a dill pickle, fluffernutter churro in DCA and our tiki drinks at Trader Sams (so I guess I answered all 4 😂)
3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to?
- Rise of the Resistance if we are lucky enough to ride it. It's the main reason to go back so soon but if we remove that from the list then Big Thunder. It's my current favorite (my favorite rotates every few years)
4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite?
- hmmmmm I don't know that I have one like this. Neither of us like the teacups but he hasn't ever done a sub ride so I would go do Nemo with him so he could try it once.
5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with?
- Maleficent would be the character I would most like to get a photo with (our Halloween party got rained out a few years back and I never got a chance) but in thinking about one I would have a chance to get a photo with I would have to say Winnie the Pooh would be tops.

Oh fun I’ll play! This is our second trip to DLR as adults.

1) The first thing you will do when you get to Disneyland? Hopefully get a fast pass or two (we arrive Sunday late afternoon) but priority 1 for the day is the fireworks and Fantasmic.

2) The food, snack, treat, or beverage you're most looking forward to? Dole whip and Mickey ice cream (I have simple tastes lol)

3) The ride or attraction you are most looking forward to? SWGE rides, Guardians and TSM

4) The ride or attraction that isn't your favorite, but you'll go anyway because it's your traveling companion's favorite? You know, I don’t think this applies for me! I am a ride lover - usually have to try to get DH to stop counting so we can keep riding haha!

5) The character you would be most excited to get a picture with? Belle - we had a great pic of me with her when we stumbled upon her just past the entrance and then DH decided to take his phone swimming 🤦🏻‍♀️

Talk to me about Guardians of the Galaxy. When I went to WDW as a teen, one of only two rides I truly hated was Tower of Terror. The drop was too much for me and I felt like I couldn't breathe. So this one was on my "pass" list, but then on Imagineering, they said it was more like being tossed in the air like a baby, rather than dropped. Is that true? That sounds kind of fun.

it’s been a few years since I rode it - and I’ve never actually ridden it as Guardians though I imagine the basics are the same. But I remember last time I rode it thinking the drop wasn’t that bad - and let me tell you the first time I rode it at WDW I was scared out of my mind! I do think it’s always worth trying a ride once but I do like to challenge myself a bit haha!

I never went on Tower of Terror. Went on Guardians once. Almost barfed on the ride. It was terrifying. Couldn't stop shaking for about 10 min afterwards. The only way I didn't throw up was by screaming with everything I had. It felt like the drops never ended. I'd just start to get over one and another one would start. Some were long, some were short, but I couldn't tell how long each one would last, so I was petrified each time. My kids went on it, too. They were in tears.

NEVER AGAIN!

To me it’s the same as TOT. I just can’t do it. The drops are just too much and it made me completely ill the last time I rode it. It doesn’t seem to phase my son and husband though.

I have a pretty funny photo I took of my kids after we got over our Guardians PTSD. They're standing in front of the huge ride building and put big frowns on their faces with thumbs down. We all laugh about it now. I bribed them with ice cream afterwards to shake off the bad ride vibes. That worked pretty well. Ice cream fixes everything.

Post #19 has been updated! You must be on the east coast somewhere, lol. I checked this at 5:30 am Mountain Time, and you’d already beaten me to it!
