Thank you, my mom taught me how to sew when I was young, I'm blessed we were able to work closely and share something that was a big part of who she was.

No, unfortunately I haven't had the time to work on the PLUS3X sizes. They include:
Snow White Apple / Trader Sam's (I know, I couldn't resist! Bought hubby & son the matching shirt and I have the Zombie Head Purse)

Resistance is futile! Ha! I'm a Trekkie!!!

Do the Trader Sam dresses and shirts match well?

I have the Magic Kingdom dress and while I love it, I have an issue with the halter. Mostly, I hate strapless bras. They never fit me properly (38DD) and they make the dress look weird. I’m thinking of sewing the ribbons to make straps. I have moderate sewing skills and when holding the straps in place it looks like it will work but I’m terrified of ruining the dress. Has anyone successfully done this?

My seamstress converted the Magic Kingdom halter dress to straps for me. It worked great.

Hey all,

I've spent the last year mildly stalking these Dress Shop dresses, and I finally but the bullet and ordered. Today I received my Tiki Room in 3x and Small World in 2x, and I could use some opinions from y'all who have expertise in alterations.

The Tiki room dress is lovely; the skirt fits me perfectly but the top is far too large. If I cross-button the straps, it looks ok up front but there's a significant gap in the back. Clearly, I need to get it altered, but I can't see any easy way to get that done -- shortening the straps will help a lot, but there will still be extra material on the sides that will need to be taken in. I've never actually been to a tailor before; can they do that kind of thing?

The Small World dress is so cute, but the fit just doesn't work for me. I'm basically a pyramid shape; 3 sizes smaller on top than I am on the bottom, and so the top is still quite large on me but the skirt is just a hair too small (the pockets gape). Plus, it looks like the fabric was set kind of sideways on the back of the skirt, so the stripes appear to be diagonal rather than vertical coming over my (ample) rear end. I think I'm going to have to return this one.

Anonomom - yes, tailor shops can do that kind of thing, depending on whether the amount you need taken in can be done smoothly (without ripples on the new seams). If not, they should tell you so. We've just recently discovered tailor shop work, since my dh is upgrading his sport coats and it impossible to get one off the rack that actually fits well. Our tailor is surprisingly affordable, too. Good luck!

I would get the Tiki dress done first and that should give you an idea of how much the Small World dress should cost.

A really good seamstress should be able to tailor the Tiki dress to your measurements. Same with the Small World dress when you get the correct size as it sounds a size too small. It's easier to make something smaller but if the item is small to begin with there's simply no way to make it larger.

When you go to your appointment be sure to bring all the undergarments you plan on wearing with the dresses; pantyhose, specific bra that works with the dress and if you plan on wearing the crinoline slip with you - it all matters.

Hmm, I think I need to order another white crinoline slip then return the one I have. I recently purchased the black one (same size) and it fits so much better. The elastic waistband in the white has always bothered me, it's like it was made for a child it's so tight. :crazy2:

I got excited when I saw the dog dress but I'm not an XS or a 1X, boooo!

@FoxC63 I know you already have your Mickey dress and cardigan but for anyone else looking, I saw several on ebay recently and the prices were actually pretty decent ($79.99 to $110 - cheaper than the Disney site, even with a sale). I was tempted but am not sure how it would fit - I'm tall and am a little concerned it'll be short waisted.

And big! I got the medium and boy is that thing huge and I've gained a few pounds too! :crazy2: I've got plenty of Small which now fit snug and one Medium which fits just fine but this Mickey dress is big! FYI - The cardigan fits perfectly so I wouldn't want to purchase a small.

You could get the larger size and make a skirt but at full price, idk.

Media people are getting to look at the Holiday merch today. There will be another Dress Shop Christmas Dress (not available to see yet though) and a purse shaped like an ornament with Chip and Dale on it!

I wonder if this is it? I don't get it, how does it work?

No dress yet but I'm keeping an eye out for it! :magnify:

If anyone sees the Christmas Dress please post a picture and a link! :grouphug:

Was at Disney Outlet today, Vineland.

Monsters Inc, Orange Bird and a White Fantasyland Castle dress with sweater ............. all $25. Two dress limit. I've seen them there before. Monster Inc was tempting it was so cute with lots of doors. SO if you are at Disney it might be worth checking in there.

That was the purse, but the zipper is down the back. I know some of the bloggers have videos on their YouTube pages (bigfatpanda is one) which shows it.
