Strollers in the Hallways at Resorts

People just have no class, and don’t give a crap about anyone but themselves! It goes right along with hanging clothes and towels on the walkway railings. Who wants to look at your crap?!? Start rolling the strollers down to the front desk and say I think someone lost this it was out in the hall and walk away. When they have 32 strollers around the lobby desk they will do something about it. Hallways are designed to move the maximum amount of people allowed in the area out in a certain amount of time. If half the exit space is blocked by an electric wheel chair that is a fire code violation. Items are not allowed to be stored in hallways. People who are doing this are putting others and themselves in danger.

I still just don’t understand leaving the stroller in the hallway.

We just got home today from staying in a very small hotel room for a few days. We were downtown in a walkable city so used the double stroller to go everywhere. These rooms were TINY. Much smaller than any room at WDW.

Even in this very small space, we just folded our pretty big double stroller and left it right inside our door.

It really isn’t hard to keep it in the room and I can’t imagine doing otherwise. :confused3

It probably bothered me more than it should have. I just think it is super bold to not take responsibility for your property. I think it's downright rude for someone to clog up a hallway/ruin a thoughtful theme.

I can't even talk about the ECVs yet. Rudest people ever.

FYI Bell services at AKL suggested leaving the scooter in the hallway to charge last year. Otherwise I wouldn’t have done so.

I think I’ve noticed this the most at the Poly over the years, but now that I’m actually thinking about it I did see a few when we stayed at the BCVs also. I don’t remember seeing any at the CR or GF, or the YC or BC. Not that I can be sure I didn’t see any at those resorts, it just wasn’t enough to make an impression while at the Poly it seems like there are always a lot and it has always annoyed me. Like I posted before, though, it’s pretty much always been ECVs, I can’t offhand recall more than a couple of strollers. It’s been going on for years at the Poly, I think maybe it’s becoming more common as time goes on. I kind of wish we knew if it was actually allowed or not (not just that a few CMshabe suggested it). Because if it is allowed I can be annoyed with Disney, if it is not I can continue to be annoyed with the guests that I consider extremely inconsiderate by doing it.

Hanging clothes on a railing has nothing to do with strollers/scooters in the hallway. Go to any hotel on the beach and you will see towels and bathing sits hanging on the rails to dry. If you don't want to look at my 'crap', too bad. I have no issue with isolating the issue of potential fire hazards in the hallways, but the need to bring people's weight, eating habits and every other thing some people toss in to these discussions is ridiculous. Also, suggesting removing someone else's property to the lobby is equally offensive. I'll throw in a suggestion. If Disney could install doors that could open like handicapped doors with the push of a button, alongside with changes to their policy of leaving them in the hallway. Scooters are heavy and not easy to maneuver. Damage is done to the rooms as a result of this. I do not know if a door can be designed to unlock with the key card and then the push of a button to open it, but if it exists would be great.

Maybe hang them in your room or on your beach chair. But why do people think it's ok to scatter there things on a public walk way? I have seen this at some beaches up north (Ocean City/Virginia Beach) and it looks trashy.

I have yet to see it at Disney, but I totally believe @crzy4dsny . I don't put anything past people that are fine with scattering their personal items in public spaces.
Soon the resorts and their grounds are going to resemble tenement housing.

Do you mean just the resorts with outdoor hallways? Or are you against hanging towels on room balconies, too? I wouldn't personally hang anything on the railings at Pop, for example, because I'd worry about it being taken or knocked down. A deluxe room with a balcony would be fine since it's your own space.

Nothing ridiculous about conversations morphing and taking different shape. That’s what discussion boards are all about.

I know it is a very uncomfortable conversation, but there is no denying that there are more obese people requiring electric scooters to get around. Weight and excess food play a huge role in the need for all of these scooters.

The use of words 'trashy' 'tenement' is very telling. The fact that anyone on this board, who can afford a Disney vacation, using such words is a window into how one sees themselves vs. others. The inability to stick to the subject at hand - strollers/scooters in a hallway - instead ratcheting up language about entitlement, encouraging rearranging strollers, removing scooters to the Lobby, a person's weight, eating habits, speed with which they drive a scooter sounds all big and bad on social media, but little else. I had a suggestion about door function. It might be stupid and unworkable, but at least it's a suggestion. Disney, if you are listening, we'd love to hear what you have to say.

People's personal belongings strewn about the hallways looks very trashy indeed. There is no way around it.

You don't understand it, because you say things like "if you don't want to look at my crap, too bad".

I don't want to sound "big and bad". I want to go to a resort and have a luxurious feel that matches what I paid. I will never be ashamed of that.

Your door idea is not stupid. It's a great one. But I feel they would have to do it to every room, because of the amount of people on scooters. People would complain that they didn't get the room with the automatic door. Maybe they could designate some automatic door rooms to truly disabled people? It may be a huge expense, but worth looking into.

Again, "sticking to the subject" seems to be a hot point to you. It's a 10 page conversation and conversations drift a bit when a bunch of folks share stories and ideas. It's ok.
