Strollers in the Hallways at Resorts

When you leave your car in a parking lot isn’t that a large expensive piece of equipment left somewhere out of your own control for long periods of time? I kind of remember seeing parking lots at Disney, heck even Walmart has them.
yes you can park a car but you should be locking it when you are not in it. had a friend who had a car stolen when unlocked and had trouble getting insurance to pay because it was not consider secured

I don’t leave stuff in the hallway you have to read and comprehend the whole statement. I don’t have a stroller and when we were there with the scooter we did keep it in the room, don’t know how others keep a full charge in the hallway, and don’t care because the scooters in the halls have no effect on me

But it could effect you. How quickly would you be able to get down the hall way & out of the building in an emergency if there were multiple other scooters or double wide strollers parked here & there all along the hallway? People who need scooters or wheelchairs would probably be most at risk from these obstacles in an emergency. The rest of us could climb over or otherwise get around these things if we really needed to. Wheelchair & scooter users might not be able to.

I try to mind by own business in travel, in life... to each their own, I don't walk in your shoes so who am I to judge, etc. But I'll concede the below (Poly, 12/2018, 10:19pm) did catch my attention. Did it personally bother or impact me in any material way? No, not really. Do I think people should keep all of their belongings inside their room? Yeah, kind of.

Not sure what one is to do about it though. If this is against some rule, Disney isn’t exactly good about enforcing such things and I don’t see them really devoting personnel to such matters (unless the fire marshall had something to say about it).

If up to guests, you’ll continue to see situations like the below on occasion.

Hmmm, maybe if pictures like that hit social media sites & enough negative comments show up, Disney will address the issue. But probably not.

It doesn't affect you until someone in your family has a medical emergency and the paramedics are delayed trying to get through the hallways with the gurney having to manually move all of them out of the way. Then I bet you would be angry. Turning a blind eye on things because its easier to say "not my problem" is not always what is best for society.

What is it about Disney that makes people lose their minds? What other hotel in the world would you keep your belongings out in the hallway?

Maybe if a stroller is too bulky for your room check it with bell services.

I’m not sure what to say about all of the scooters. I don’t think these spaces were designed to accomodate them in such large numbers.

Woah @GADisneyDad14 that picture is crazy. I have never seen this before! We stayed at the Contemporary in September and POP in March and I never saw an unattended scooter in front of a room.

So weird.

My Cousin who is at Pop now called me with a question earlier today. He was at the pool with his family and wanted to rub it so asked what I was doing. I told him I was perusing the DIS while waiting for a prescription. He asked what the topic of the day was and I told him about this thread. He said funny you should mention that because as I'm sitting in my lounger I can count 9 ECVs and 6 strollers outside rooms right now. And that's just one building.

Well, in fairness, it was sort of like the “one time” you find something unsatisfactory about housekeeping or similar travel situation. You have 99 uneventful experiences and 1 that is different (and that you take pics of an plaster on the Internet). I’ve been in that same hallway countless other times and this was the “one time” I witnessed so many scooters.

So, is that common from my experience? No. Did it happen on that particular random Disney day? Yep.

It's very common. Very common. Listen to what the other posters are saying. This is not rare.

Now it's starting with the strollers. Like I said, our hall was littered with strollers.

I stay at Disney resorts enough, I can judge for myself what is common or not common. But like with many Disney things, we all have different experiences that can happen or not happen at any particular moment in time on any given day.

I didn’t say I had never seen it before, just not that many at one time.

Me too:cutie:

It is common for a lot of us. Such an eyesore. You are lucky it's uncommon for you.

Stayed at the Four Seasons twice this year. Not one single stroller or scooter in the hallway. How odd that on property hotels attract this kind of "let's leave our personal items in the hallway" mentality.

Yeah, I'm a frequent visitor also and have noticed more and more ECVs in the hallways over the last few years.

"Corridors. Width provisions modified to apply to areas and to add gurney traffic (§1018.2 Exception 5). Adds new section prohibiting obstruction of the required width of corridors (§1018.3)" which is 44 inches. Just saying that this isn't an opinion, it's the law. I mentioned it earlier and again because I worked in security in a resort and security is very aware of the seriousness of breaking code. The picture a few pages back or the corridor with all the ECVs is kind of scary because in an emergency, getting through that maze would be impossible. As a PP mentioned, trying to get medical equipment through would be a nightmare. In case of an evacuation, those people needing assistance must be carried or transported out. If everyone using those scooters qualifies, can you imagine the difficulty? I know it sounds like whining to some, but it is more than mere inconsideration for your fellow guests, it is dangerous and not worth mentioning AFTER an issue when people are screaming for heads to roll.

And it’s a guarantee those screaming the loudest will be those who caused the issue by leaving their things in the hall.

Seems like just another example of entitlement....

I'm sure one of these culprits is reading this thread, why do you leave your vehicle or kids vehicle in the hallway? Would love to hear your reason for keeping in public space where people walk....

Sometimes it's the sheep mentality. One person does it, then others figure it's the norm. If I had an ECV and saw 4 parked outside doors, I might have done the same. (not now, after reading this thread and realizing I'm not the only one that finds it a little annoying, though!)

It's really just a byproduct of a company that goes above and beyond to accommodate everyone. I can't think of seeing one single ECV at all at literally any other hotel.

Your general point about Disney causing people to lose their minds is definitely valid though. But that's another discussion for another day ;)

remember one trip with daughter where I was staying with her kids while she took her ECV which was stored in her room. just after she leaves room I hear her scream as I open door to see what happened she is by a stroller stored outside in hallway. there was nothing wrong with her but there was a live snake in basket under stroller. we didnt knock on door as she had screamed loudly just outside room and no one opened door to see why. we left next day not sure what happened but I am guessing they did something different next night. this at POR
