Ruth's Chris ???

Oh yes don't go to that one in Niagara Falls. You also end up having to pay that tourists tax on top of it all. I think it added another $50 to our bill:faint:
When we stay at Embassy Suites, we have a choice between a $30 voucher to the Keg and a $70 voucher to Ruth’s Chris. And if you stay on certain dates, they’ll even give you an additional $150 voucher for Ruth’s Chris. I guess they’re really trying to entice people to give it a try.

I've eaten there a few times (not recently) and it was always very good. It's a bit overpriced though so I doubt I'd pay for it out of my own pocket (I was always only there on company functions). It is good though.

Its been a couple of years but ya we used that voucher, reason I tried again after not liking first time, and our bill was still in the 200-250 range AFTER voucher! No thanx!

I don't see why not, they're all terrible chain restaurants...
For me they are all good places I just feel Ruth’s Chris is much higher scale and better than the others. Better food, better service quieter and far less children.

Usually in areas big enough to have a Ruths Chris there are independent steak houses that are SO MUCH BETTER. Its not like Ruths Chris is a bad steak but for the cost you can usually get so much better. The problem is business travelers and tourists, which keep Ruths afloat, don't know where to look for the better local places so they just gravitate towards the sure thing. And on an expense account Im fine eating there. But I wouldn't spend my own money.

We have one locally but never ate there. Ate at one when on vacation, it was pretty good. The service was outstanding. We've had better steaks elsewhere, but for a dinner out just DH and I, it was very tasty.

No it’s just because the difference in pricing, the Keg is good but costs less than Ruth’s Chris. Ruth’s Chris May have a higher value at certain times because of higher prices during that time. Falls pricing is insane.

$30 won't get you much at the Keg; it's not an inexpensive place either; a decent dinner for 2 is going to run at least $100. I'd probably end up less OOP there than with the $70 Ruth's Chris credit though and as I mentioned, we greatly prefer non imported beef.

I’ll always choose the Keg. But I can see how others would be enticed to try Ruth’s Chris with a $220 voucher.

At Orlando airport now going to Toronto and the keg tonight. I do like Ruth’s Chris more though.

Bingo. Many people, especially business travelers, gravitate toward the safe known rather than risk trying the potentially better unknown.

I find the name confusing (yes, I know why that's what it's called). Never been to one. Closest one is about an hour away.

I think it's a better idea to try locally owned independent restaurants, though.

Depends on the location I guess, but honestly, for the money, I'd do Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn first. Just wasn't that impressed on the two occasions I've eaten at one.

Not a fan of chain steakhouses - have several family owned ones that can go to here in Chicago. I went to the Ruth Chris' once, for the soft open of the Chicago one. Meh. I get that its a soft open and don't expect perfection - went to the soft open of Gibson's in Oak Brook (suburb of Chicago) and it WAS perfection. So...,.

DH is on business travel tomorrow and already knows he has a dinner at Ruth's Chris with some people he is meeting. I am sure the people who picked the restaurant are on expense accounts, but DH is on per diem. That $26 doesn't go very far with these types of places. Happens to him often though. He knows I get irritated when I see the bill for just him at these types of places, so he has already prepared me. I can be prepared and irritated though. lol

:scared1: That is insane. Is he meeting with people who consider themselves to be "at that level" or are they just taking full advantage of their company policies? If it's the former, his company should recognize that fact and up his allowance, if the dinners are mandatory. If it's the latter, well, I'd be suggesting less expensive restaurants if it were me.
