Value Resorts Approach Mods In Pricing

Also I must say, I still find the prices on most of the values to be quite decent.
Especially after all the Values have been refurbed.

We were at Music last month and after having enjoyed the HUGE TVs now at POP when we stay there,we found ourselves "squinting" to see the tiny TVs at Music!lol:)

It also doesn't help the fact that CSR and CBR have been under construction the past couple of years, so that's why their prices have been close to Value prices when factoring in discounts. I've seen All Stars for $80/night due to FL Resident which a Moderate will never be priced at.

Do not change my quote. That is completely different from what I said.

I still remember the days of $49.00 Passholder Rates for Standard Value Rooms being common!

A 7 night stay for around $400.00 was MAGICAL!lol:)

The AoA room is likely rack (since they rarely offer discounts) and CBR likely has a nice discount applied. But I agree, the price gap between value and moderate is small, and then there is an enormous jump in price when you get to the deluxe level, which I don't really get.
For the first time ever, I've seem LM rooms included in the discounts. At least the AP discounts. It's taken a LOOOOOONG time
The reason I think the gap is small is the discounts
They do 10% on the Values (avg)
But 15 or even 20 on Mods and as high as 40 on the Deluxe.
That really skews the rates and it's why we have GF for only $50 a night more than FQ

I did recently book a trip to Disneyland, I’m staying at the Disneyland Hotel in June and I have to say - the prices shocked me a bit. I’m sure it will be very nice, and more importantly my dad will enjoy the ease of access and the nostalgia of staying where we stayed many times when I was younger... but ouch it was more than I would have paid to stay at the contemporary! In fact, even their cheapest on site hotel costs more than many of the moderates at WDW. But to book this trip I did sacrifice a mini break to San Francisco.
I found the Disney properties at Disneyland very over priced with very little benefit. I go to Disneyland at least once a year. I've only stayed on site once. The other times I can save $200+ a night by staying offsite. Unlike Walt Disneyworld there are many many hotels within walking distance.
Have a great time in Disneyland. I'm doing my 1s trip on 16 years to WDW.

Regarding Deluxe resorts, we travel with a family of 8 (us and the grandparents) for a week, and like to spend time at the resort in the afternoons, and eat breakfast in the room usually. The price difference between a villa and 3 rooms at the same resort is sometimes significant. We could do two rooms, but I really don't like the lack of even a minimal kitchen or seating area, and then cram 4 people in the room on top of that and it's not for us. I've done it and regretted it. I would not pay for 3 regular rooms at a Deluxe. If we're going straight rooms it's a cheaper moderate - like our stay at CBR in March with just dd and I.

For those that can spend that kind of money just 'cuz they want to, good for them.

That is the truth. The deluxe resorts are way over-priced, in my opinion. I’ve said it before, but I honestly don’t know how people afford to stay at them!
Renting DVC points.
We pay Moderate Prices for Deluxe Resorts.
I don't think most people are paying "rack rate" at them. Either getting an AP or Seasonal Discount which can be up to 30% off, or via DVC rental like we do.

And just to also add, we easily spend 20K on our WDW trips. Mind you it's not on Accommodation only. That is all add up. Flights to the USA really eat into the budget.

Easy: my partner and I don’t have kids (you’d be surprised at how much cheaper Disney is with only 2 people!), and I live by the motto that only suckers pay retail—or in this case, Disney rack rate. We stay at substantial savings with a well known internet TA that books at convention group rates. I use my BJs card to purchase Disney GCs at 5% off, stacking it with whichever cash back CC gives me the most. On our next trip, we’re flying on points. Of course it’s still silly pricing compared to luxury hotels in the real world, but it’s very affordable for us.

Also...between ADHD, physical challenges, etc. we need to build in plenty of resort time to relax, and we need to be in proximity to parks so we can dip quickly if we’re feeling overwhelmed. We enjoy the amenities at the Deluxes. It does mean we go less often than some, but for us it’s about quality over quantity. I’m only doing this solo trip in August because of the crazy deals going on.
