How many pts needed

Hi Gang!

I’m sure there are many posts that answers this question, and apologies for repeating said post, but how many pts are needed to be purchased in order to get the blue membership card? I thought it was 75 pts but I’ve heard from some that it’s now 100. Can anyone please help shine some light on this? Thanks!

75 points is the current requirement for Direct benefits (Mainly the AP discount amounts to the most savings).

100 points is referring to what seems to be the new minimum for new buyers. As mentioned though it's 75 points to receive the benefits such as AP and dining discounts and access to the member events.

Not sure if this matters, but I was told that 75 points was the minimum for direct to get full benefits at OKW while 100 points was required for the same at AKL (new member). I suppose it's possible that the 100 points for AKL could have been based on active inventory with a 100 point contract being the smallest available at the time.

Sort of. No matter what, you need 75 points direct to qualify for perks/blue membership card. But if you are a new member buying direct from DVC for the first time, you must buy at least 100 points for AKV. If you want OKW, the minimum direct purchase there looks like only 50 points (but then you wouldn’t get the perks).

I think there are several things to keep in mind:
1. Are the benefits of direct purchase at a higher price worth that much to you?
2. What type of room are you looking to reserve? As many have stated, we originally purchased a resale contract with more points than we needed for the studio we planned to reserve. We ended up going to a 1 BR and love it and rarely go back to a studio now. Luckily for us, we have enough points for each contract to do a 1 br for 1 week each. It seems many others find the same thing.
