Couldn't decide so I booked both to give myself a few days to think it over. Will drop one asap.

Am I risking having one or both of them dropped by Disney?

I have 2 reservations booked, same resort and same dates, except one has a day added.

I am waiting until flights are released to see if we will be able to keep the extra day. I don’t want to drop the other one and then have Disney tell me they can’t remove a day from my longer reservation.

I always thought you could have 2 reservations at a time. :confused3

This is double booking and they can cancel you. It would be no problem if you had the reservations with different primary names on each reservation. You might want to call and make sure there isn't a problem holding them both.

Thanks! I called and checked and the CM I talked to said it was fine. It's basically a courtesy hold, only paid for. :) I made both reservations but one has my husband's name and one has mine. I'm giving myself 3 days to decide. (That's how long they gave me for a courtesy hold for my GF booking, so seems fair.)

Disney will only drop one upon check-in. That's when the "system" will recognize both bookings.
I have a DVC room and a package room. Some have had luck changing the middle name and first name to keep both rooms.

No, they won't.
I had no problems at all with 2 rooms and I was the lead guest in both.
No one else in my family has a MDE account so I didn't even bother trying to trick the system with other names.
I booked 1 room, me as the lead, checked out
Booked another room, me as the lead and checked out again.
One trip I even had 2 rooms at 2 different resorts for 1 night (long story)
No rooms or reservations were ever dropped, canceled or in any way a problem.
I've done it multiple times
The only thing that happened at check in was I had to choose which room my MB opened. I won't open 2 rooms.

I can assure you, I spent over two hours on the phone with 6 different cast members who said you cannot have two rooms, booked for the same dates, with the same names, or one would be cancelled. It sounds like you're talking about a split stay; which is totally fine.

* I currently have a non refundable DVC room and a regular room with tickets and dining.

I've had two rooms at the same time as well; and, I also was the lead on both--the magic band was the only issue I had and even that was resolved easily (it's tough to coordinate big groups sometimes)

No she's not. I've done it also. Three times now. 2 rooms, same exact dates(not a split stay), both with me as the lead. Zero issues. Many phone CMs told me it wasn't possible so I just booked them online myself.

Yup, the CM told me that she couldn't do it on the phone, but it was simple to do online. In this case, my kids and I are on one reservation and my husband is on the other. For all they know, we want separate rooms. They're not going to ask.

You could have also booked them with everyone on each reservation. No need to split people up like that.

I had no problem booking online. I've had one booked since October and the other since January. I suppose cancelling one could be a newer policy but it's not really a chance I'm willing to take considering if they're cancelled the day of there's no refund. I'd rather not be stuck in Disney with my tickets and dining package cancelled on arrival day.

It's definitely not.

You'll have the same chance of them cancelling a 2nd reservation as them cancelling a single reservation.

CMs are incorrect. This is one of a LONG line of things that don't know what they are talking about
Book it yourself online.
And no, I know fully what a split stay is. I do those too. I am talking about 2 rooms, same dates. Same people. Same resorts. But once I even had reservations, and used, 2 rooms at 2 resorts (again, long story I'm not going on explain right now)

A quick search on the boards will turn up people who have had their 2nd reservation cancelled

You could have also booked them with everyone on each reservation. No need to split people up like that.

That would have been a pain, though, and totally unnecessary. It was a lot easier to just click my husband's name on my MDE profile online and that's it, rather than search for a room for four, then do the drop down menu for all the kids' ages, then add them on the reservation, etc. I'm only holding on to this for a few days until I decide which I want.
