Love Bugs

The word is that love bugs are attracted to white. During Move it Shake it,poor Daisy Duck was being swarmed. You can even see it in my photos

I’m at the pool and they are swarming around people. It’s not too bad except here.

Ugh. We arrive on Saturday morning.

I've read in some places that they sometimes only bother for a week? Hopefully that's the worst case!
Sorry but the love bugs stay around 4-6 weeks. There are multiple flights as they spawning a new generation during May and September of each season. That's why you see so many, there are multiple generations active all at once and are busiest between the hours of 10 AM to 6 PM daily.

Unlike mosquitoes, they don't bite but they are attracted to white areas like walls and even white cars while swarming.

If they are splattered on the front of your car they will eat your paint job if you don't get them off in a timely manner. We keep All Free fabric softener sheets in our car. Just dampen one and wipe off the bugs until you can get a chance to wash the residue off.

When my friend and I were leaving Pop a week ago, a Mears bus pulled up, and the front and windshield were completely covered in love bugs. The driver had to keep washing his windows while driving to the airport.

So I am wondering, is this why some crowd calendars say this is a good time to come? lol People are avoiding these bugs?

When you go down splash mountain do you have to keep your mouth closed? lol

Thanks for chiming in, everyone. We ended up cancelling our trip last minute due to a medical emergency, so the love bugs are going to have to bother everyone else.

When we left on Friday morning (May 10), they weren't as bad as they were on Monday when we arrived. But heading south from WDW, they were awful until about Naples. Our car was totally black from dead bugs on the front. And we had to stop along the way to clean the windshield. When we got home, Bill washed the car and got them all off. When we arrived on Monday, luckily we had some Windex Wipes in the car and were able to get the windshield somewhat reasonable to see. And we just brushed the dead carcasses of the front. They were bad at Epcot during Flower and Garden on Monday, but not so bad the following days.

I'm just east of I-95 and I have not seen it this bad in years. I was hoping the rain would help but not so far. Since it's this bad now it will be bad this fall. Going to DS on Sat. and hoping it won't be as buggy.

That happened to us a couple of years ago. We started out at Vero Beach and drove over to Disney. I swear I could hear them splatting on the windshield. We got the car washed while we were in Orlando but it didn't help. The lady at the car rental place said it was fine, a lot of cars were coming in like that.

Bring Windex and paper towels in your car to be able to clean your window if they are really bad. Our trip back to SW FL last week, we had to stop at a gas station and clean the window. The front of the car was black with dead bodies.

Yep, I'm from Florida and know the drill.
We were just out and the air was full of them. More rain coming...not that it will help. o_O

I go this week every year (it's my birthday hehe) and I don't remember them being this bad! However, they don't bite or sting (or make that horrible buzzzzzzzzzing sound) so I didn't mind them. They were a little annoying while I was laying out at the pool (do they like it when you're wet? That's when they seemed to come towards me specifically) but besides that they were just flying around. Again, no biting or stinging so if one landed on me I just shook them off or smushed them. I just got home yesterday. No, you don't need to keep your mouth closed on splash mountain or anything like that. :rotfl: Just watch your drinks, they landed on the side of mine a number of times and twice they tried to swim in them. :umbrella:
