Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

They let people in by capacity not table availability. So if it’s 50 people (just throwing out a round number) and two leave, they’ll let two more in even if there not necessarily an open table for them. Not sure why a CM wouldn’t let you peek around for a minute through.
Thanks!!

So excited to be heading back to Poly later this summer! There is about a $5 difference between regular room standard view and a standard view studio on the DVC side with the AP discount. We would love the guarantee of a balcony, but we’re traveling with my in laws and really want connecting rooms since they’ll be watching the kids for at least one night of our trip. I know DVC rooms are usually at capacity, so would the regular hotel side be a better bet at connecting rooms, or is the hotel usually at capacity on both sides of the resort with little wiggle room for changes?

We are arriving pretty late one night at around 11pm...is the DVC pool open 24 hours? We would love nothing more than to use the hot tub after a long day of traveling! THanks in advance!

Official hours for the Oasis Pool are 7am-11pm. The MagicBand scanners won’t open the pool gates past 11pm. But if you happen to enter the pool gates prior to 11, they generally do not kick people out unless there are noise issues reported.

Also just for clarification, the Oasis Pool is not just a DVC pool, it’s for all Poly guests. It just happens to be located more on the DVC side of the resort.

Hope that helps.

They wouldn't let us in to peek for a second either. Wouldn't let us in past the doorway where the desk is. We were let in (there were 3 of us) and there were no tables so we just stood.

Bummer, but good to know. I suppose everyone is there for a “look around” and you can’t let everyone in.

Sorry to be a downer but I am so glad it's not open 24 hrs! People paying for pool view/marina view category rooms don't want to hear noise all night keeping them awake (which I have heard has happened with non gated quiet pools at some of the resorts).

First, I have to see that y’all are the very best enablers I’ve ever encountered. Your joy with and enthusiasm for the Poly has convinced me this is where I need to be!

Planning my first solo (and second ever) trip to Disney for Feb-March 2020. This trip is a celebration. Last trip was at POFQ.

I’d really like a room with an actual balcony. Not sure whether I should go the DVC route or just cross my fingers with a room request for a balcony room, with a view of anything other than the parking lot.

Experts, can you weigh in in the pros/cons of a deluxe studio vs a regular resort room? Bathrooms at DVC seem nicer, but the rooms don’t have as much theming from what I’ve seen.

All the DVC rooms at the Polynesian have a balcony while only 1/3 of the regular resort rooms have a balcony: 3rd floor ony, 2nd floor is just a sliding door with a railing, and the 1st floor rooms have patios.

Bedding options should not be an issue for a solo traveler so either room type should meet your needs. A Studio would have a kitchenette with a microwave in addition to a mini-fridge that would be in a regular resort room.

Disney is running a great deal this summer. For about $10 more, we could stay in a Deluxe Studio. Having only stayed at the Poly about 15 years ago, I don't know what location is best (old Poly or new Studios). I'm looking for expert opinions about the pros/cons of a deluxe studio, vs. regular room.

My DD (26) and I will be there for 4 nights in each June.

I actually had created a thread asking a bit re this. I will link it for you. https://www.disboards.com/threads/i...c-studio-compared-to-a-standard-room.3729256/

The link in the above thread gives you a great visual of the Deluxe Studio. We've stayed in both the regular Polynesian rooms and the Deluxe Studios many times. The Deluxe Studio works well for my family of 5, but I think for just the two of you for 4 nights, you are better off with a regular room. You will each get a "real" bed that way, no one would get either the sofa bed or the pull down single murphy bed that is in the Deluxe Studio. They are comfortable, but not as comfortable as a "real" bed. The big advantage of the Deluxe Studio is the split bathrooms, but again, since there there are two of you, I'm sure sharing a bathroom is ok. The other advantages of the studio would be the use of the laundry facility in one of the DVC buildings and the kitchenette (small frig, microwave, toaster, coffee pot). For four days, those ammenities may not be worth even the $10. However, both are great and you really can't go wrong with either choice, it's just what works better for you! Have an awesome trip!

Faxing my room request today. Anyone have any recommendations on wording it, for a nice view? I have booked a standard view.
Thank you!

I have used the touringplans.com service for room requests. They tend to specify an area. For our upcoming stay the wording from their website is as follows:

"Bldg Tokelau,Flr 3,W-facing room.Exmple:3908,3907,3909,3906,3910,3905,3911,3904".

They say that it is better to request an area or range of rooms as opposed to a single room.

Sorry to rehash but if anyone can confirm I would appreciate it: only two rooms will connect correct? We have three rooms, but if I understand correctly, I can request two of the rooms be linked.
