So just got call about bwi we arrive on Monday and they said they have to move us due to engineering problem.Does anyone know what’s happening there. Now we will be split up from my sister they are in the villas.we are getting moved to GF.I know it’s a nice resort but we were looking forward to being on the boardwalk with family.Any one know what is happening at the bwi

Ugh. I would be sooooooooooooo disappointed.

Good luck OP and I hope you get a happy resolution! :)

Did you explain the entire situation to the representative who called you? They probably assume a person or party traveling alone would be excited about the upgrade to the GF. I’m sure they could call a round and get someone to volunteer for the move if it’s splitting your party.

It could be any number of things. We've stayed there twice when they've had issues, particularly water pipes breaking, flooding and work going on through the night. IMHO, aside from your family being at the villas, I would be happy with that move if they are having issues which will majorly impact the enjoyment of your stay. I agree with the others, however. I would call back, explain you have family staying at BWV and ask if they have anything available at YC/BC, BWV or BCV.

We called them back and I guess we will have to be separated. We just worried about transportation when we are at Broadwalk at night have to figure out how to get back to GF without making stop at Disney Spring

Your options are limited once the parks close in the evening to bypass a stop over at DS if using Disney's internal transportation. Next up would be Minnie Van / Lyft / Uber for transportation between the Boardwalk and GF. How late would you be leaving the Boardwalk?

Dave

We looked at park hours Epcot open late one night so we will hang out at Broadwalk that night that way we can take monorail back to GF.Hopefully that will work

I would try one more time - explain exactly why you wanted to stay together and see if they can help you, just like you did here! Evenings at the boardwalk, help with kids on the buses (?) maybe an afternoon swim etc. lay it on :)
Some CM's are more persistent with issues like this than others, maybe escalate to guest relations if you haven't already?

If they can't move you back to BW maybe they would consider moving you to the BC (in walking distance) or moving everyone somewhere together? Personally I would at least ask if you can have permission for everyone to swim together either at BW or GF or both.

As far as getting from Boardwalk to GF, I would just Uber if it comes to that.

Good Luck, I travel with my sil and niece and nephew and since we are both single moms being in the same resort is very important to us as well.

I wouldn't accept that answer from Disney. They can find you a room in the beach club or yacht club. Advise them you are doing a family vacation and want to be by your relatives. Ask to speak to a manager.

This. No way would I be split up that far apart. Another resort on the boardwalk should be able to take you.

I have been in this situation where they called before our trip to tell us we *had to* move to another resort. Fortunately we were not traveling with others, so it was just us. But I will say, it was not an easy conversation, and negotiating with them was very difficult! Call came in at 9am and I was still on the phone at 3pm! So I would not be happy about this, and I would not be confident they were going to accomodate my requests to be near family. They probably picked the GF because there were unsold rooms there. Your best hope might be asking if they could move your family there, too. Otherwise, you may not see much of them around your resorts. Consider cancelling if they won't budge. (And see how they respond! "I'm sorry to hear that, but that would be your choice if that's what you decide to do"... And of course you don't want to cancel, but nor, as is, will it be the trip you originally envisioned with your family...)

I'd check both the Swan and Dolphin for availability.

As long as Epcot is still open, you can walk through Epcot to get on the monorail. Note that this would take a while. You would need to walk to Epcot, go through security, walk through Epcot, wait for the monorail, monorail to TTC, and change monorails to the resort line. IMHO, this would easily take 1.5 hours. What will likely happen is that you would need to take Uber or Lyft. As others are saying, you may need to explain that you do not want the added cost of the Uber/Lyft back to GF after spending time with the family, and that logistically, it will be difficult to spend time together at the pools since the pools are for guests only. If they have an engineering issue, they have to move someone, but since you are traveling with family, you are not the best people to move.

They won’t move sis to Grand Floridian with us cause she booked thru David’s vacation. And they are saying there isn’t any place over on the Broadwalk property for us to be moved to that’s why we got moved to grand Floridian. We are going to make the best of this adventure.we figured we may need to Uber

Did you check hours for DHS as well? You can catch a bus to GF from DHS without having to go through the park. Uber/lyft/Minnie Vans are also incredibly convenient. Did you ask about Yacht Club and Beach Club? They are within walking distance of Boardwalk.

You got a raw deal, but having a great attitude! :)

And I bet you will love the Grand Floridian, have an awesome trip!

I was just going to say this. It’s an easy walk over to DHS from Boardwalk Inn (or there’s a boat) and it saves you a trip through security.

Kudos to OP for having such a great attitude!
I think you’ll enjoy the GF. I suggest planning for your sister’s family to hang out at the GF with you on their MK nights (taking the boat from the front of the MK to the GF on a warm night is a delight, watching the MK fireworks from the terrace by the quick service restaurant Gasparillas or the GF dock is pleasant as well, sitting in the GF lobby listening to the band or the piano player is very pleasant as well.) On Epcot & DHS nights you can visit them at the Boardwalk.
Getting back to GF after your visit at the BW, check the schedule for the MK, if they are open late even for an after hours event the buses from the resorts to the MK will be running, if so when it’s time to leave just walk down to the BW bus stop, grab a MK bus and once at the MK boat or monorail to the GF, or as mentioned walk or boat over to DHS if it’s open late and bus back to the GF.
And as mentioned, if you just don’t want to deal with security going via the MK or all of those transfers Uber/Lyft are reasonably priced options.
