Smoking Ban and Security

So, do we know if security will still allow people to carry their cigarettes or vaping device in the parks? I'm in the process of trying to quit smoking and I use a Juul. I'd hate to get to the security check, empty out my pockets, then find out I need to go back to our room to stash my Juul there (I'm not throwing it away, those things are expensive! :P )

Yes the paraphernalia isn't banned just smoking inside the parks. There will be designated smoking areas just outside the turn styles which are past security.

Good to know. And they confirmed that smokers won't have to go so far out that we have to go back through security?

It will be interesting to see what people report. I would imagine they can easily place the smoking areas outside parks without having to go through security again for guests.

Either way, it will definitely be a learning curve, as I'm sure they'll have CMs at the original designated smoking areas to inform people they will have to go outside the parks.

As a vaper and former smoker, I find these new rules ridiculous. If I’m at the American Adventure Pavilion in EPCOT, they expect me to walk all the way back to the main gate and past security to vape?!?! I’m always respectful of others when I vape and should not be asked to go that far. Make a designated area further off the beaten path and be done with it.

I'm guessing there will also be a smoking area outside of International Gateway.

I found out yesterday looking online that for AK it appears to be off to the side, near the ticket booths. For MK, it's past the ferry's and into the bus area. Hollwood Studios is near the boat. Epcot's at the entrance, at the far left where the bathrooms are and ironically, where the AED is.

So, it looks like for some, individuals will get to have the fun of not only walking out of the park, but also going past security again, unless they make a work around that.

You might be respectful but others may not be. I've walked threw a few clouds of vape mist from people that thought they were being discrete about it.

I think what Pete said about what they did in Tokyo Disney makes sense.

A lot of my friends vape, and they'll try to aim but I still end up awash in it half the time--I don't mind in that context since I choose to hang out and chat with them when they're out on a vape break and it's just a natural consequence at that point. But yeah, no, it's not as containable as people seem to think it is.

Sadly this is the case. In February I saw a women in her 60s doing the poorest job ever of hiding her vape totes within feet of the line for the Tea Cups.

We were at Epcot yesterday and if people were vaping I didn't notice. Also, any time I was in the ladies room no one was smoking or vaping. It was so nice to be able to walk around Epcot and not have to deal with clouds of smoke.

Exactly. Like that ridiculous smoking area in the World Showcase between Japan and Morocco. It might as well have been in the middle of the walkway.
