Hello Everyone,

Here is a little background before I ask my question: At 6:00 AM on the 180 day mark I wanted to try and book either 'Ohana or California Grill around firework time on October 13, 2019. According to the website the fireworks are scheduled for 9:00 PM that evening. The best I could get was California Grill for 6:50 (too early, I believe - though I know you can always go back to watch the fireworks) and 9:10 for 'Ohana (at the tail end of the fireworks).

My question is: Is it better to keep the reservations and keep trying to modify them in hopes that a better time pops up OR just try periodically to make a new reservation. I have no idea if there is a benefit for guests that already have a reservation, but I thought that someone might know.

I would keep CG and watch the fireworks after dinner. You’ll already be there anyway.

I agree with this. OP, with a 6:50 ADR, you will most likely be finishing dinner around 8:30 pm, so you can just stay and watch the fireworks. You can certainly try to push it a little later. I would set up a reservation alert on Touring Plans https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finder and also check on your own. I've found in looking for new reservations or trying to modify an existing one, you are offered the same times, so there is really no advantage to either way of searching. The view from Cali Grill is superior to the one at 'Ohana, so I would focus on the Cali Grill ADR, personally. But your 6:50 pm time really isn't bad for a 9:00 pm MK fireworks show. Keep in mind, you can see the EP and DHS fireworks from Cali Grill as well, so you may want to check those show times for that evening, too.

If you have kids 910 is very late for dinner Imo

I don't think there is any benefit to already having a reservation as far as getting a new time. If you don't want either of the times you have, I would just cancel and keep trying.

Keep the CG ressie. It's a slower pace restaurant. If you finish a little early, hand out in the lounge. Or visit the gift shop downstairs, and return later for the fireworks.
