Hello,
We (plus DD 16 possibly DH) have the opportunity to go to BLT for five nights in July in a lake view studio. DO you think the trip will be too rushed? It's so short because of work and point constraints LOL. i figure she is only 16 once and will be out of the house in a couple years for college.
Thoughts?

We've done that traveling from the west coast. I know some that do 2-3 nights from the west coast. Agree it's only rushed if you makes it rushed.

We also travel to WDW from CT. 2 nights is my shortest stay, it's always worth it to us. If we have the points (or can get a great rate at a value resort), and can get cheap airfare, it's well worth it to visit. We don't feel rushed (but I don't buy into the "we have to do ALL of the things" mentality on any trip).

We fly from MN. We usually try to do a minimum of 5 nights. Anything shorter than that and I feel like I just got down there and then it's time to leave. So, from my perspective, you should be good to go!! :thumbsup2

Since you're DVC members, have been to WDW before and will be there in future, a 5-day trip should be fun. You shouldn't feel like you have to cram everything in and can focus on your favorites and even some resort time if you like.

We fly down from MA and we have done long weekend trips to trips lasting 5 nights. We find that the perfect amount of time for us is 4 nights because we start to miss our dog too much and we also come down at least once if not more per year so we don't feel rushed to get things in.

If you're a repeat visitor, I think you can take a leisurely approach to this trip and have a really great time. While most non-Disboards/DVC people would only ever do a 5 night trip, I can understand why you might consider it to be a "short" trip. In reality, it's long enough that you can hit every park, do some of your all-time favorites, add in one or two new experiences, and don't feel like you need to see "everything". Sounds heavenly. I was hoping to do a "quick 4 night trip" this summer with just my boys, but DH tells me that means the whole family can't go to the beach then. So I'm torn..... LOL

Anything longer & I tend to get a bit antsy, miss my dog...don’t judge lol. Probably would feel different if we didn’t do multiple trips per year - yea!

We only usually go for 4 or 5 nights. It isn't too short. It's just right IMO.

We just went for a week in March, and we thought it was too long. I miss my cats when I travel. The dogs are still kind of a pain because they're young and hyper, but my cats are the best! Yes, we have a lot of animals.

You are able to go for your dd’s 16 birthday. What is the con? Book it and go.

My dd is 25 and graduating from Law School in a few weeks, takes the bar in July and going to HHI with us in August. She has a job already that she will start in September. After that I dont see how she will be going away with us until maybe she has kids but hopefully sooner. She said they mostly take days tagged onto weekends and if she can vacation with her bf Im sure she would do that than go with my dh and me lol

So, my long winded answer was, rushed or not take the vacations while you can. We always try to and happy I did.

Next month we have four nights at BCV. We had a three night reservation in March. But we only live 3.5 hours away, so we do short trips all the time. When we were over 800 miles away we did seven to twelve nights on a reservation.

Thanks everyone!!
They are borrowed points that will expire in Sept. If we don’t go I would have to rent out the points or reservation (something I’ve never done)
We also have a Disney Cruise in October out of NYC...so it’s not like we are skipping Disney...I know... first world problems...
I think we will probably go...Like a friend says YOLO! (If you didn’t know ...the letters stand for You Only Live Once! LOL)
It would also mean finding someone to take care of our animals twice (or bringing to kennel) as opposed to once (for the cruise) unless DH stays home and we make it a Mother/ Daughter trip...more $$ we could spend on cruise...

We have had DVC and AP for almost 20 years. Never go more than 5 days. IMHO just the right amount of time if you want to visit each park. If you don’t you can have a nice resort day. But if we didn’t have a direct quick flight or an easy drive it would be a different story.

We’re flying down in July for 5 nights. So, I am in the camp of “go for it”.

We’re in NY and only fly direct, the flight is only 2- 2 1/2 hours that way. With a stop, it would cut into the trip too much.

We have done longer trips, but we have the same concerns with fur babies.

We do shorter trips very often. Enjoy, you are absolutely correct, the next few years will fly by and the opportunity to vacation with your DD when she begins college will evolve around school breaks and summer. We vacationed as soon as our sons got out of college for summer, before they started their summer jobs. Then when she begins her career, it will evolve around her work schedule. Have fun!:-)

I would go -5 days at WDW is better than 5 days at home! I guess that is a benefit you own DVC so you know you will be back. Maybe just plan on taking it slower - It will be summer so super hot - sleep in and maybe hit the parks at night. Time does fly by and next year DD might not want to go with you guys so book the trip and go and have fun.

For our dog we prefer to use someone we found on Rover -- it is generally people who will only take in a couple dogs but will keep them in their home vs sending your dog to a kennel where they are left in a cage a good part of the time. We love the lady we found - takes our fur baby out for walks multiple times per day, lets her sleep in bed with her so it is almost like being at home.
