Jurassic Park River Adventure - how wet?

How wet do you get on Jurassic Park River Adventure? I’m sure to some extent, “it depends,” but is it like Splash Mountain wet or Dudley Do Right/Popeye wet? Trying to figure out if we should change into flip flops and ride it with the other water rides, or if we’re safe in tennis shoes and can ride whenever.

I have only been on it once. I did not want to get wet and sat towards the back and in the middle of the row. My hair and shirt got sprayed a little bit, but it wasn't bad at all. I think you would get wetter if sitting in the first row. Hopefully others with reply with their experiences.

It really does vary every single ride...…

We have come off bone dry, slightly sprinkled, wet, soaking wet and totally drenched...…

It all depends on the weight distribution on the boats....so it really doesn't matter where you sit......we have sat right on the front row and come off dry....people in the row behind us were soaked.....

We have been on this ride hundreds of times, sat in every row and there`s no rhyme or reason how wet you get...…..don't remember our shoes ever being drenched either, it`s mainly your head and upper body that get soaked....and the seats of course get wet too. I`m not saying your feet will be dry, but just don't remember them being drenched like on Bilge Barge for example.

Did it 3 times in various rows. Never got soaked, and it was only the top half that got any kind of wet - mostly just sprinkled.

Have came off drenched one time, not a drop the next. Expect to get wet, but it may not happen.

I agree with the precious posters: It depends. We've rode and been fairly dry, barely damp, and pretty soaked. If it is just a matter of whether to switch shoes, then I would do so just in case. Personally, we choose wet day, and ride dry rides then we change shoes and ride all the wet rides (over and over- express is great) and then head back to the hotel. Being on-site makes it easy to head back and forth though.

I’d put on the flip flops and ride all three. The water rides are so much more fun when you are dressed to not mind getting wet. We usually dress in swim trunks and swim shirts, ride all three a few times each, then head back to the hotel to showered before heading back to the parks.

There are no guarantees in life - but we've gotten wet every time. I would count on getting wet. Probably not Popeye wet - but wet :-). Generally, you will likely be sitting in a wet seat -- that's something else to consider too.

I would like to add that while it varies no matter where you sit, however I noticed that during the last refurb when I still had AP (which was two years ago) that it seemed to increased the "wetness" you would get while on the ride. As it seemed as if regardless of no matter where I would sit, I would get wet on top, but nothing too drastic (in the past), however noticed after that refurb that I would get a little bit more soaked on top than I did previously and it was pretty consistent with me regardless of where I would sit. It seemed that JP got a little bit of a punch after that.

That being said, all I can say is, sit in the middle of the row? But yeah, in terms of water rides, JP is tame compared to rides like Rip Saw and PopEye.

We gotten pretty wet sometimes it depends on the ride/fate and I think if you are with a few big riders.

I talked DH -- who highly dislikes anything wetter than Splash Mountain -- into riding this with me several years ago. Of course they put us in the front row and of course we got fairly wet. Always a gamble.

He didn't talk to me for a half hour after. Luckily it was a warm afternoon and he warmed up (figuratively and literally) after that.

The funny zinger to all that is three hours later, there was a torrential downpour and even with ponchos the walk back to RPR left us very, very, very wet.

And that's why a lot of times I bring zip lock bags for electronics. Sometimes it sucks to get wet, but I'd rather get wet than my phone.

We have had both ends of the spectrum on Jurassic Park. We always ride it with the other water rides, which is when we change our shoes and put our stuff in a paid locker.
