Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

I'm not sure if I'm remembering the pool bathroom, laundry, or both but you needed a magic band or card to get in and were 24hrs.
It's both in the Late PM/Early AM hours.:)

I know this from experience as the Laundries have really nice Vending Machines with really nice selections that become REALLY nice selections after all other food options have closed!lol:)

I haven't really been keeping up with the thread recently but I was curious if the recently renovated QS food court is fairing well? I just remember at first there seemed to be some complaints about waits, or menu selection or even availability for certain meals? I forget exactly the specifics but can anyone let me know if things have settled down, and or if in general people are finding it generally acceptable?

We had friends there for Spring Break last week and they raved about the food court. They were also there last year when it first reopened and said the difference was night and day.

Thanks so much dansdad, that's great to hear! Looks like the resort is back on my wish list, especially with the skyliner!

We were there in January MLK week and had no issues. The selection isn't that great, but I had a burger, bbq sandwich, and breakfast which was all good. Mobile ordering was great, and our arrival day before we knew much about it we stood in line and ordered and it wasn't long to order or get the food.

Mobile order is definitely a good boost/tip for the best experience. It's seems like the restaurant usually highly used, but they seem to normally have the traffic well covered now. Food quality is fine for a QS, with a few different adventurous options and many easy to please ones.

I got to spend some time at CBR last week. It was a wonderful stay. The staff in all areas were very friendly and helpful. The food court was good. I recommend the jerk chicken with chimichurri sauce. We were away from the construction side, so we didn't have to deal with that. The gondolas will be very helpful once open. The buses were a bit rough. They were always packed to the gills (with the exception of off times like 10am) and they were slow to arrive, both at the resort and at the parks. Maybe they were having an off week?
The room was very clean with no signs of mildew. The privacy doors don't exactly meet in the middle and if you're laying in the bed closet to the door you could see down into the closed off area. It wasn't a big deal for us, but it's something to keep in mind. I love having the freestyle machines on each island. Very convenient. Again, the staff were excellent in each area of the resort.

Sebastian's was also quite good. My party all tried something different and we sampled each other's plates. Everything had great flavor. The youngest wanted a pinky promise that we would go back again sometime. Our waitress was also very sweet.

CBR would be a repeat for us in the future.

We are staying at CBR right now and so far it has been a mixed bag. We are in Martinique, and I would definitely recommend paying the extra for preferred location because we aren't noticing any construction at the resort at all. Our room is clean (well, at least it was clean when we got here. LOL) beds are comfortable. Refrigerator in room is absolute garbage and man from maintenance basically told us that it isn't meant to keep perishables cold. (WHAT?!) So we packed our refrigerator with ice and are using it as a cooler. We do see the Riviera Resort construction when walking to our room but we don't hear any noises from it. We were offered $10 per day for opting out of housekeeping.

Now the rough part. Our building lost power on Saturday night. Apparently some lightning struck something and it was out from 8 or 9pm (not sure because we were still at MK) until about 4am. It was SO HOT. My husband, in an effort to save our food because the ice was melting, had to walk over to Aruba (because ice machines didn't work in our building) and haul ziplock bags full of ice back to Martinique. Up the stairs, in the dark. In case you are wondering, there are NO generator lights on the outside of the buildings or in walkways. So we had to walk with the light of our cell phones with our stroller, kids, up the stairs, in complete darkness. Old Port Royale had power on a generator, no food or drinks and no ability to purchase anything, and people were lying on the couches in there. One little girl was vomiting because she had overheated. So we asked if we could move hotels. They said if we had a medical reason, we could move to Pop Century or Art of Animation only, and that every other room in all of Disney was completely booked. We basically told them that it would be ridiculous to try to pack our bags and carry them down the stairs in the dark at midnight, so we opted to stay.... which resulted in us missing rope drop for Hollywood Studios the next morning. The next morning, we woke up to a chipper voicemail offering us a refund of our room for the night and $100. We went to the desk and asked for fast passes for Toy Story since attempting to sleep in a hot, stuffy room caused us to miss our fast pass and rope drop, if we could at least have that. They said no. So... while I know this was not their fault, this was incredibly stressful and I think that they could have made an exception on the fast passes. We weren't asking for higher compensation, but it did ruin half a day of our trip.

Buses are no different than buses at any other resort. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Sometimes packed in like sardines, and sometimes everyone has a seat.

All staff have been friendly. Also, we ordered Amazon Prime now and they kept our cold food cold until we picked it up. This was definitely cheaper than buying from the food court or gift shop.

I'll update if anything else happens, but so far it's all ok minus the hiccup with the power outage. I'd most likely stay here again. Kids LOVE the pool.

I would have quickly hit the button and told the banker DEAL!("Deal or No Deal" reference.):)

Also,it may have been worth a shot to explain the situation to Guest Services at DHS-they may have been more likely to gift you with the FPs.:)

Hope the rest of your time in the Islands is stress free like a nap in a hammock!:)

Can anyone report on the current state of construction around Aruba and Jamaica? Haven’t heard anything much lately. We are arriving early June and are booked for a standard view.

I thought the refund for the night plus $100 was above and beyond for something that wasn't their fault. They were giving away bottled water, bottled soda, large brownies, fruit, etc. in the food court. They had a lifeguard stationed out by the lake. It did get really hot in the room, but I do think they did the best they could to make up for a rough night that was probably pretty rough on all the CMs too.

I love those hammocks! I'll be back in 19 days, planning to grab a beer at Banana Cabana and drop into one of these.

It's been improving from the photos I've seen, especially Jamaica that doesn't have too much fencing left, and they have re-sodded a lot of areas. I think they'll definitely be done with both sections before your arrival.

That is nice of them... I can't believe they don't have a back-up generator, even just for area spot lights or something. Unless they do and something was wrong with it. That sort of thing always stinks for the CMs who have to try and deal with everything.

For anyone with an upcoming stay, I’m interested to hear about what you were charged for grocery deliveries to your room. I’ve heard conflicting info about whether it’s $6 per delivery or $6 per package.

Can someone tell me where the gondola station is in relation to the property?

It is across the street from Jamaica. If I'm standing facing Jamaica from Old Port Royal, it's back toward Jamaica, but off to the left.
