Why can't I leave it alone???

I have a stay booked 8/13-8/20 at AoA. Ive mentioned in many other posts that we ended up in a family suite because we need the space with 3 kids but it was a last minute decision to book before free dining expired in February. Now I keep checking other resorts everyday and pricing out different packages. Im so hesitant about staying at AoA. I really wanted moderate or deluxe this year. But once we got locked in when the promo expired I felt stuck. Now there's no promos for August. Ahhhh Im losing my mind!!! I just looked at CBR at the 5th sleeper room, the 2 year old could sleep on the pull down. BUT she doesn't sleep well in a room with others, which is why we wanted a separate bedroom suite.

Also, Im trying to add a night to the beginning of our stay and with no promo, its ridiculously expensive to add a night at AoA. So I looked at other resorts for that one night but its going to make me want to stay at a moderate and it would be a tease for me. LOL. I'm sure the kids won't care, and hubby doesn't care where we stay. But why am I being so picky???

I understand and also suffer from wanting to change resorts thinking the grass is always greener, lol. For our upcoming anniversary trip we changed four times! I think (hope) you will like AoA though. We stayed there in January (DH, DD13, and DS18) and liked it very much. The suite set up was great for us and the resort was a lot of fun!

Sometimes it's hard to leave well enough alone. Sounds like you have a discount you can live with, but you're not sure about the resort. Just go with it. You may end up loving it! Even if you don't, you will still have a great time. Stop driving yourself crazy...if you can. :-)

Thanks guys! I needed that reassurance. Not to say that I won't want to change if another discount comes out but for now I will just let it be. LOL.. I'm sure my little one will love the resort and the room.

I'm always messing around with our plans. I have a CCV, 2-bedroom booked for a trip in July with a friend and her DS11 who have never been to WDW. I'm sure they will love it, but we just did our park plans yesterday and BCV would be so much more convenient with some late nights in EP and DHS and I just found out her DS LOVES animals and now I'm thinking we should have booked Kidani - aaaahhh! I also got a really good discount on CCV and those discounts expired as well. I really should probably just leave well enough alone.

AOA is great for families. We stayed there with our 3 kids in November and it worked out well to have the separate bedroom and especially to have the 2 bathrooms. 1 bathroom with 5 people is tough. I also like that there is only 1 bus stop at AOA which makes transportation easier. All the moderates (except POFQ) have multiple bus stops and are very spread out which could mean lots of walking at the resort to get to the pool/food court and bus stops as well as more travel time to get to and from the parks. AOA is fairly compact with all the suites being centered around the main pool and food court. We were in Cars and it was a short walk to everything. I would stick with AOA!

I am with you. I wanna do AKL Kidani so bad! And I also wanna stay on the boardwalk somewhere. I think we need to just let it be and learn for next trip :)

Thank you SO MUCH!!! I kept seeing so-so reviews of the place but to hear you say those things makes me feel so much better. Originally we were going to be in Nemo suite but swapped to Lion King bc sister in law and crew ended up booking a trip and didn’t get Nemo so I figured it would be nice to be close to them. But it didn’t stop me from looking at other resorts lol. I’m going to chill for now. I do love the space the suite offers and the 2 bathrooms are fantastic. We really don’t have a ton of resort time so I’m just going to stay with it and enjoy it. Not to say I won’t book an additional night at a different resort if I can’t get a discount on AoA suite. I really want to add a night at the beginning of our stay so we can do EMM at MK.

My last three trips I have had reservations at Wilderness Lodge. I have yet to stay there though because we always end up somewhere else. There are so many awesome resorts that no matter where I'm staying I always find other options appealing. I have stayed at AOA 4 times though and absolutely love it. The extra space is nice and the resort is themed beautifully. They are always playing Disney music and it just has a great energy.I imagine your family will love it.

This is where our old philosophy of going a week with the kids in the spring and a long weekend (when you have an AP) with the wife in the fall around F&W time helped me. I too always like the mods/deluxes/DVC but when we planed with the kids I always made the reservation with them in mind, not me or the wife for the spring trip. Then we got to stay where wifey and I wanted in the fall. So, we stayed mostly values and some mod's with the kids. We eventually got to where we would add a day at a deluxe in the spring for the pool for the kids and to see if we liked the place for the wife and I to stay later. But, we really liked everyplace we stayed except for Caribbean Beach. Staying AOA Lion King suite for one night in three weeks prior to moving over to OKW which has now more or less where we anchor down. We did stay in LM room there once before and love the resort. You will enjoy it. The pool bar is great when you have kids that are big enough to swim alone.

We stayed in a suite in 2014 and loved it. I know thats some time ago, but we really enjoyed having 2 bathrooms and just so much space in the room. The pull down bed was very comfortable. Like mentioned above, we liked only having one bus stop for everyone with lines. The food court was good, and the suites are close to the main building/transportation. The pool was fun, as was the walk around the resort and to pop (our view overlooked the lake and to pop which was nice). We haven't gone back because it's cheaper elsewhere, but we really did enjoy it.

I wish we could do an AP. DH is not a Disney addict like me so he’s not really interested in doing an adult long weekend- and we also live in MA so not easy to get down there often. I haven’t been to the parks in 3 years and it’s been 5 since we did an on-site stay with everyone. I’m really hoping I can rope him in after this trip and maybe he will love it enough to go again next year. I’m also seriously considering doing a solo trip long weekend if he doesn’t want to come lol. Deluxe is much more affordable when you don’t have 3 kids in tow!

Thank you! So glad to hear you enjoyed it. It looks super cute. I am glad we switched from Coronado. Although it’s nice and the new tower is opening, it just doesn’t scream Disney to me. This trip is really about the 2 year old. It’s her first trip and she is completely obsessed with Mickey and Minnie I am so excited for her to see everything!

You won’t regret it when you close the door at night and have some privacy with the husband or when your kids see the pool or theming. It’s really a cute resort.

You can’t leave it alone, because you really don’t want to stay there. I get it. I’ve booked places I really had no desire to stay at out of necessity or because of a really good deal. At some point, you’ll make peace with it if you can’t find anything else that fits your families needs better. And when that happens, you’ll begin to warm up to the idea of staying there, and I bet you’ll enjoy your stay. :)

You are absolutely right. I just can’t wait for the next 4 months to fly by so I can let it go and relax!!!

I understand looking at the price you're paying for AoA and saying "hey, I could have a Deluxe!" but the family suite is a layout that I don't think is worth giving up. To get comparable accommodations at a Deluxe, you're talking about a DVC 1 bedroom, and even then not all of them have a second bathroom and none sleep 6.

Admittedly, I did think about renting a DVC - AK Kidani - 1 Bedroom - Savannah view instead of AoA for our upcoming trip. Doing points rental (but not cash reservation through Disney, god no) would have come out about what we're paying for AoA. But everyone's excited about the theming of our Lion King room and I'm sticking with AoA because I actually think we'll enjoy it more, at least for this trip.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at AOA. We had a last minute trip a few years ago and could only get AOA. DH wasn't thrilled because it was him, me and DD (in her 20's). Ended up with a Lion King suite and we really ended up enjoying it. We ended up going to the night movie (which we have never done before) and had a really great time. QS had some nice food items. Theming was incredible. Also nice short walk over to POP.

You described my thoughts exactly. I have been looking and looking at deluxe suites and DVC and nothing has exactly what I want. Especially 2 bathrooms which is super important with the 4 of us that need it. (2 year old likely wont be potty trained by then...diapers seem easier to me so Ill hold off LOL). For this trip we will see how we feel about AoA. No doubt the little one will be in awe over the theming and the pool and splash pad. Next year will be more about me! Deluxe for sure. I just cant believe how much they charge for a suite at AoA..we paid less to be at POR 5 years ago. *sigh*

ETA: Im also looking at renting DVC points for a AKL Kidani 1 bed suite for next year. I wasnt sure what all went into it but now I know.

Thats awesome! Im requesting Lion King. None of the kids are into Cars and Nemo is impossible to get. I think my little one will love the LK suite.
