Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

Just got back from our 6 night stay at Caribbean Beach Resort.

We did the online check in and received a text by 1:30 Pm to say our room was ready. We had a Preferred room and put our 1st preference as Martinique and 2nd as Close to Transportation. We didnt get Martinique but instead were in Barbados (Building 33). We had a 60 second walk to our Bus Stop so that was wonderful. There was a soda fill up station in our building and we made the most of that. We had a 5 minute walk to Old Port Royale and it seemed effortless.

We had a room with 2 queen beds and also had the 5th sleeper in the room which was nice. The room to us was just a place to lay our head at nights and a place to shower in the morning. The beds were very comfortable and had ample USB ports and power outlets to charge electronics. There was a nice flat screen TV on the wall which was nice to watch the NCAA tournament. One thing I was shocked by was no alarm clock in the room. It wasnt a big deal as we used our cell phones for the alarm.

It wasnt the warmest in Florida last week (67-81 for the High) but living in Iowa we still swam in the main pool 3 times. My kids (7 and 5) loved the pool and it was a nice 82 degrees according to the lifeguards. Speaking of the lifeguards, I would like to commend them. 2 different times while we were there, the lifeguards had to jump in to help kids. One of the times I dont know how the lifeguard held her composure as the kid was screaming Help Help. After the lifeguard jumped in, the kid stood up and was messing around and pushed her away.

We never had a problem with buses. Granted we were the 3rd stop, but only one time did we not get to sit down on the bus.

We ate at both Spy Glass Grill and the Food Court. The meals werent spectacular but they were adequate for our needs.

We could see construction from our side of the lake but never heard it once during our stay. Riviera looks amazing.

All in all, It was a nice stay at CBR and I would not hesitate to book this resort again.

Just as an FYI for you for future trips and for anyone else reading this, about 3 years ago WDW removed the alarms clocks from every room on property. You can request one from housekeeping and they will bring one up. Once a guest has requested one for their room, they do not go back and remove it. So that is why now some rooms have them and some don't. If your room doesn't, nobody who stayed in the room previously has requested one. And if your room does have one a previous guest had requested one.

I'm guessing the lifeguard couldn't say anything to that "little darling" but if that were MY child, as her mother, I wouldn't be able to yank her out of the pool fast enough. And that would be her last swim of the vacation.

So nice to see you mention the Lifeguards-we always say how wonderful they are and that they are some of the unsung heroes of WDW-they are always so nice and "professional".

They work under extreme pressure-they LITERALLY may have to save someone's life at anytime!

You may even what to think about shooting Disney an email about your experience with the CBR Lifeguards-I know it would make the Lifeguard's day to know a Guest appreciates them!:)

I sought out their Supervisor after the incident and went down and told him how impressed and friendly his staff was. He was very appreciative of the comment. I stopped the guard later that night and thanked her for her great work!

I have spent months reading all the posts about CBR. We had a 5th sleeper standard booked my only request was near bus stop. We arrived Sunday around noon when we was checking in we was told we had been selected for a Magical Memory. Uh-oh, I was afraid we was fixing to be offered a Pirate room and prepared to decline. Nope we was Upgraded to AKL!! I have always wanted to stay there but it is way out of our budget. I already told the kiddos don’t get use to this because if myself and DH were paying OOP it never would happen again unless the were getting jobs to help build the Disney fund faster.

Awesome! Love when those magical moments happen!

Has anyone experienced their kids being scared by the theming of the pirate rooms?

We booked a trip in May for myself, my mom, and my daughters (ages 2 and 4). My mom had her heart set on staying at CBR because she's never stayed at a moderate resort before. We booked with the sun and fun discount, but the only CBR rooms left with the discount were pirate rooms. Now we're second-guessing whether the skull-and-crossbones curtain will freak out the kids, particularly the 2yo.

I tried to upgrade to a preferred room or even a different moderate resort, but none are available with the promotion anymore. The best we could do is move to an AoA Cars suite, which would still cost more money (and then my mom doesn't get her moderate resort stay). Any thoughts on how scary the room theming really is? Could we just leave the curtain open so you don't see the skull and be ok?

As I'm on vacation, could I request the alarm clock be removed? :rolleyes1

That is most definitely awesome! Now comes the hard part though, as it sounds like your kiddos already discovered, once you stay at a deluxe, it's easy to become spoiled!

Interesting question and concern. I checked my pictures of the rooms from staying and the skeleton is only on the divider curtain and the room number placard on the outside of the room. Everything else has a tame theme. Carpet is an old treasure map, shower curtain is old sailing ships, framed pictures are pirates that look like the animatronics from the ride. Obviously keeping the divider collapsed for hiding the skull means losing out on privacy in the sink area, but I can't see anything else that would be too intense.

Does anyone know if CBR stock bed guards? Im planning on my 5 and 6 year olds sharing a bed in a pirate room but a) the beds seem high and b) they look far too heavy to push against a wall to at least block on side off from falls...

Thank you! I feel pretty confident that the skull will be the only problem based on that description. We don't mind having less sink privacy, so we should be good. :)

Definitely too heavy to move. I guess how tall is tall is a bit subjective but I think they might be lower than non-pirate room beds. Here in the imgur link below is a close up of the beds and carpet. The mattress does go over the edge of the themed frame but doesn't seem extra tall to me. About the same height as a nightstand.

How exciting! We're bringing our adult daughter and her fiance in May staying 4 nights in Prefered CBR and 2 nights using our DVC points at BWV. Originally I thought about booking AKL since hubby and I really enjoyed our 2 night stay last Decemeber but it was a little out of our budget at the moment.....definitely make sure your kids understand what a blessing this was :)
New rendering of DRR with more detail.:)

That really is beautiful. I wo der if we could schedule a DVC tour when we're at CBR this May? I know they aren't open yet so probably not....maybe in December right before they are officially open?

Oh, gosh! I never thought of this! I know my hubby is scared of sharing a double bed, lol!!! We're bringing my son, his wife, and our then 15 month old granddaughter in December. We may have to leave the curtain open too! Maybe before then you can introduce her to the scull logo of PotC? If she's familiar with the logo perhaps it wont be too scary?

Wow, good for you! I hope you enjoy your upgrade. I have dreamed of getting one, so I’m always so happy to hear that others are so lucky. Have a great trip!
