Validating Canadian park tickets in a package?

Hi everyone!

Now that this year's Canadian park ticket deal has been out for several months, I wonder if someone could help me with the current procedure. Previously, if you bought your park tickets in a MYW package OR separately, you still had to validate your Canadian citizenship at guest relations before first use by showing your passports. This had to be done outside one of the theme parks or in Disney Springs. This leads me to 2 questions.
1. Do you still have to show your passports if you bought your tickets as part of a hotel package?
2. If so, can this be done at your hotel now? I read somewhere that it may be possible to do at your hotel instead of at the parks/Disney Springs, but I'm not sure.

Thank you!

Not sure, in the past when we used the Canadian offer we would get a package in the mail which we took to DS .

Didn't get anything in the mail this time round.

Thanks for the info! Hopefully someone can tell us about recent experiences. I'd like to leave our passports in our room on our first park day if possible!!

Hah yeah, I replied hoping to bump it up and see if anyone has gone recently .

Heading there Wednesday. Will let you know if there aren't any replies by then

During New Year we had to go to guest services. We went to Disney Springs since we were staying at POFQ and they asked for everybody passports.

Had they sent you a package in the mail?

I purchased the tickets day of the promo and have them linked in MDE, but no papers in the mail to take to guest services .

We activated at Epcot our first night in November and we just had magic bands, nothing mailed.

There have been a few reports on here of people being able to activate them at the hotel. Some have reported not having to activate anything at all. I would plan for having to activate them at Guest Services and if they’ll do it at the hotel consider a bonus.

Have a great trip!

I was just talking to someone this morning who is down there now, plus they work as an independent Disney trip planner and asked them this exact question. She told me that in 2017 everyone who had Canadian tickets had to get them verified at Guest Services, but last year they changed it so that if the Canadian tickets are part of a package, they can now be verified at the time of check in at your resort. If you bought the tickets separately, you'll still need to go to Guest services. I'll put this to the test on Sunday.

we're picking up our magic bands at check-in;nothing was said about mailing anything to us or going anywhere to activate them as our tickets are linked to the bands.
we're renting from a dvc member and bought our tickets separately

We were just there in early February, and had added the Canadian Tickets onto our room booking without a dining plan when we orginally booked. We had to validate our tickets at the front of the Animal Kingdom park when you buy tickets at a window using our passports. We could have also gone to Disney Springs and done it at the Guest Services office there as well.

So was this a room only and you added the tickets after or was it a room and ticket package from the start? So many conflicting reports on this.

This was our experience when we went in mid-January this year and had the discounted tickets as part of our discounted room package. No dining plan. On check-in I asked if we needed to validate the tickets before use. Our CM scanned the screen and said that she didn't see anything there that suggested that we weren't good to go. So we headed off to Epcot and sure enough they worked first time.

So I was excited thinking that we could access some airport lounges with our American Express Airmiles Platinum card, but the guy on the phone is telling me no. :( I do have the BMO world elite, but there are no priority pass lounges in the terminals we will be in. There's American Express, but not for the AM Platinum. Ugh.

Ok, just got into MK without activating at guest services. We had a room and Canadian ticket package. I asked at check in if we needed to validate, he said we were good. Obviously can't guarantee but this is our experience this morning.

This is consistent with our experience in late February. We had a room-only reservation and purchased Canadian tickets separately, linked on MDE. We picked up our magic bands at check-in (POFQ) and asked about ticket activation. The cast member confirmed we needed to visit guest relations. He said the computer systems the resorts used could not activate the tickets.

We ended up doing this at guest relations at Wide World of Sports that afternoon. We had to visit WWoS with our passports, anyway, to pick up our bibs for the Princess half marathon. There was no line at the guest relations location and it only took a few minutes. The cast member checked each passport as she activated the ticket linked to the respective magic band.

This is interesting. We're renting DVC and I purchased the discounted tickets separately. We're not going down until Sept 2nd, so it's good to know that we have to activate our tickets - I had no idea. So, I'm glad for this thread - now the wait begins.
