Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

Well we arrived to our room in Martinique and it had a bad smell inside so we asked to switch rooms. Now we will be in Aruba building 51. I hope it’s better than the last or we might ask to move resorts. There are TONS of cheer and dance groups here

Good luck. I really hope the new room in Aruba smells better!!!!!

I appreciate you posting about the smell. I was there 2 years ago and there was an awful smell in Trinidad North. I was moved as well but it wasn't better. I'm still upset with myself for not writing to complain about the lack of effort to make things right. I have a bounceback for Dec 2019 and was hoping there wouldn't be a smell anymore. I may need to reconsider....

I'd very much like to hear how it all worked out for you. Have a magical trip!

This room doesn’t smell as much but it’s far from the lobby and I didn’t know there was so much construction. There are tall fences along most of the sidewalks. She said we would have a nice view here but our view is of construction fences, sawed down trees, and dug up ground.

Glad the smell is better. Thanks for reporting back.
Enjoy your trip! Hopefully the construction doesn't bother you too much.

I forgot to mention our USB ports didn’t work in our cbr room even though we were only in there for 20 minutes we did try them

Did you notice how many of each USB and regular plugin there was? It actually really bugs me that I forgot to check last time lol. Also at least the perfect storm of issues got you to Port Orleans!

I didn’t really count. There were two on each end table though. Those were the ones that didn’t work. The plug ins worked but not the USB ports. There were some on the tv stand too I think. We didn’t try those though.

I was thinking all of the construction was done except for the gondola station and the next door Riviera. Is the remaining construction now just related to the piers of the gondola being redone? I'm thankful they are taking care of safety. Just wondering what's really going on and to what extent/timeline.

Aw, Haley, I'm sorry CBR didn't work out for you. We're staying 4 nights at CBR in May and December, both.....but staying 4 nights at POFQ (for the first time) in September. I wonder what the smell was? Do you have any idea?
I think it was a stale moldy smell. It smelt like old carpet or old air coming out of the a/c. It was also really hot in our room even though it was set to 68. We absolutely love pofq! You’ll have a great time there! Every room is a good one at pofq and a quick walk around the resort

We are supposed to stay here in April. We have stayed at CBR before (pre-construction) but I am nervous that with being spoiled on our last trip staying at AKL, we are going to be so disappointed in CBR. One of the things that I hated most about values was all of the groups of cheerleaders and school groups. We did have an annoying group on our last church to CBR (I think maybe a large church or Christian school group?) but they were only loud and obnoxious on the buses. The chanting and cheering and large groups taking over everything drive me crazy.

I'm also concerned that construction is still a bigger issue than we want it to be. We are booked in a preferred room, only because I couldn't get a standard with my AP discount.

I can't speak about the dance and cheer stuff, but in a preferred room you should avoid the current ground issues in Jamaica and Aruba. They are working on some kind of Skyliner related issue and that's where those poles are.

Yes, they had to dig up the ground around the Skyliner towers for some reason... not sure exactly why but may have had some kind of safety survey done and found they need to re do something. It sounds like they are moving areas almost daily but here is a photo from the other day courtesy Tammy Debock Wright on the Magical Guide to CBR group on Facebook - View attachment 379533
That looks horrendous! I would be really unhappy if I had to look at that during my vacation.

We asked the workers what they were working on when we were there. After joking around saying they were digging a swimming pool, they said they were replacing trees. My guess was that they didn't want those tall trees near the Skyliner path.

I just stayed in Jamaica. Was talking to a housekeeping person who was hanging out in the Jamaica bus stop checking w the guests for feedback during the morning. I asked about the construction. Apparently, it’s to reinforce the ground in case the have to use the rescue ladder to get people out of the skyliner.
