New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

I wouldn’t read too much into this. The new build project is internally known as Project Triton. Disney uses internal code names for projects that have loose connections to the project itself.

Nothing in Pandora is called Morpho.

The first 2 ships are called Magic class. First ship Magic
The next 2 ships are called Dream class. The first ship Dream
I'm betting it is Triton class and the first ship is Triton

Can anyone dig up old plans before Classics and Dream Class and see what words were used?

The first two are Classics. Only ever heard them referred to this way - not "Magic Class".

I really hope not. Triton is a stupid ship name - doesn't even sound like a ship.

Disney Cruise line blog had a story today saying the project name for the new ships is the Triton class.

Disney Triton is only two syllables and a unique initial DT. I think there is a good chance ship 1 will be the Triton!

As per the DCL Blog, a new batch of documents from Port Canaveral specifically refer to the new ships as the Triton Class.

One image in particular shows a birds-eye view of a docked ship labeled with the name Disney Triton.

Edit: Looks like me and Spork24 had the same idea :D

The article I read that was posted on FB, was a little confusing. It started with stating that DCL was referring to the ships as the "Triton" class, but at the end of the article, it was calling them "Trident". IMHO, I like Disney Triton better.

Fair enough. Although, I would think that military ships would be an exception. But I will concede.

Sir Richard Attenbourough Its the UKs new research ship launched maybe a year ago or so.

There fairly rare in the shipping world but they do exist.

I was on the maiden voyage of Magic.
The press referred the Magic and Wonder as the Tragic and the Blunder. I do remember the two as the Magic class and after the Dream and Fantasy , the M and W are now talked about as the classic, after the old classic looking cruise ships.

Just got off the Dream a few days ago, where during a presentation, the new ships were referenced and the cast member referred to them as "the Triton series".

Makes you wonder if that's officially how the crew refers to them or just that the CM read the same story.

I don’t believe they used code names at the time. The practice of every project having a code name is a more recent development, largely brought on by the public’s increased access to information.
There is some truth to that but Disney has not always been open about what they are doing. Anyone in central Florida real estate in the late 60’s might tell you that. WDW operations continue to hide behind a “local government” where the public office and private corporation often are the same thing. As we know WDW land was bought using dummy corporations.

"AyefourCorporation", "Latin-American Development and Management Corporation" and the "Reedy Creek Ranch Corporation". Some are now memorialized on a window above Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom.

So even though the technology is new Disney is well practiced at working to keep information from the public view.

@RedSox68 What would you think about adding "Main Show" suggestions to the list?

My first choice would be Mary Poppins. Plenty of other possibilities, but I'm curious to see what folks will come up with.

Or is there another thread on this?

Actually, this is a very good suggestion, and I will add that subject title to page one. A Mary Poppins stage show would be awesome!

Added to page one, and I think it's a great name for the first ship. At least it is unique and no other cruise line has it (yet)!
