DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

He's been waiting a month for the recruiter to contact him. Took the ASVAB and did well, and has good grades and wants to do deferred enlistment. Only 17 and finishing up his JR year. He is interested in computers or possibly intelligence field. Not what i would have suggested. i told him to look at paralegal (he loves to argue) as a stepping stone to getting into law school or a electrical stuff. Something where you can't have a computer replace you or that will beat his body to pieces before he is 40 but what do i know? He will have to make his own mistakes like I did.

interesting. it's all new to me though. sounds like a process.

Morning brethren. Tennis this morning for me and the boy, tonight we have people round who used to come for Xmas. Not my favourite people. Taking this one for my mum to keep her quiet.

Anyways, y'all have a fine Saturday.

ASVAB - Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.

Figures out what you're good at and what would be a good fit for you.

MEPS - Military Examination and Processing Station.

You go to MEPS where you undergo a lot of medical exams and take the ASVAB. Depending on if there's any medical/physical limitations (I.e. color blindness can't be a certain jobs where color is critical - electrictrician/pilot/etc.) And how well you score, it determines your field/specialty or different options to choose from

Morning folks. Cold outside.

Good luck.

ASVAB - Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.

Yup. That’s what Google said, but...

Figures out what you're good at and what would be a good fit for you.

... that’s a better explanation.

MEPS - Military Examination and Processing Station.

Ah!

So you do get to chose... from a defined list determined by the testing. Got it now. Thanks!

Happy Saturday. Up early for Wolverhampton vs Leicester City. We had a triple murder + 1 assault yesterday, with arrests already made. In a town of 70,000 that doesn't happen often. No reason has been provided, although I'm not sure if one can be.

Hopefully our kids will make smarter career decisions than we did and pick a better location. I can't believe that my ancestors were kicking around this continent for almost 400 years and weren't smart enough to go someplace warm and sunny rather than stay in the northeast. I'm trying to get there but if I don't make it DS said he would do it for me.

I'm not happy being in the MRI club as well, but it's only for knees. I don't know if that qualifies me for Randall's club. :lmao:

I went up to the Grant County Extension Office last month. In setting that up, I had to explain time zones to someone along the way. :sad2: They do have a nice area up there.

I hope our kids make better decisions. My oldest has her moments.

Tennis here as well. I think we will have different competition levels though. Arsenal vs Chelsea match up should be a good one today, with Man United trying to get into that 4 spot.

Made it home from tennis. Best player this AM (won set with each different doubles partner). Sure am sore right now. Great matches today in EPL - Wolverhampton, Arsenal, & Liverpool. Ice & snow forecasted to hit in next two hours.

Knees count, you're in Norm! :crutches:

Yeah, I'm in another club. This one sounds really exclusive. :lmao::sad2:

I think Norm.would rather not be in, but being part of a club is good.

Agree. Definitely could do without the pain.

Morning all. Had a couple of inches of snow last night. Today's goal is to try and get a couple of small projects done. I've been dealing with some stiffness in the leg/knee where I have plates and screws in it.

I gave those in my arm. I use level 2 velcro braces on both knees and my right wrist to tennis. Then it's beer, elevation, ice, heat pad, and drugs for the pain - maybe not in that order.

Combining Doc & Darcy's posts, I think a solo trip would be fun. I can't justify the expense of a trip without my family though. I also think ddcc with my DW would be fun. She may or may not want to hang with a bunch of idiots all the time though which is fine as well. But, if DW and I went, then we would leave two teenage girls home by themselves for that many days. I trust them, but not that much. So, I'd have to take them out of school, which is basketball and swim sport seasons on top of fighting the school system funded by attendance. So, with all those factors, I'll have to wait until they are out of school, which is 4 more years.
Sounds like a plan Norm. See ya there and by then the waits for SW Galaxy’s Edge will Be manageable.

Morning gents.
Just a few more hours until I'm free to go home. Another cold morning here (-32C/-26F), but at least it's too cold for snow and I don't have to worry about shoveling.
Hope y'alls day is warmer!

Morning chaps from a bright and sunny London. Survived the loafers without time in the penalty box from my mum, so all good there.

Morning gents.
Morning buddy, may your hours be speedy.
Don't tell anybody, but little guy has been excellent for me so far.
:thumbsup2Good times.
Ice & snow forecasted to hit in next two hours
Good luck mate, hit that French toast anyways.
Knees count, you're in Norm! :crutches:
Achilles? Or is that another club?

Good man. I played a guy yesterday I've narrowly lost twice to before, and won 6-2, just taking 10% off my power and pushing him to the corners.
I am at the same place place as you Darcy it's two different types of experiences that I don't think would cross well.
I would think so, and coupled with a transatlantic trip without the family, its not looking likely for me. Which is a shame.
I can't see the tickers or signatures on my phone either. I have an iPhone 5S from work. I don't know if that is old or new, good or bad. But I have a feeling the tickers don't show up at all on phones.
They don't show up on any iPhones at all.
CT scan showed a benign tumor in the head of the femur but that isn't what is causing the issue. The PA thought I tore the lining between the head of the femur and the hip socket.
Ouch. Sorry, man.
Something more interesting to ponder than my Powerpoint I should be working on.
The world could probably keep spinning with one less Powerpoint in it ;)
i told him to look at paralegal (he loves to argue)
If this argument holds up, my 5 year old should be charging about $500 an hour.

Have a lovely Sunday chaps, hopefully I'll see a few of you in the Virtual Sports Bar at about 8PM our time.

Snowy Sunday. The snow has hit and we are shut down. Ice too. No work for me this morning. I've picked up a cold or flu or some carp and am coughing up a lung. Stupid weather, but still can get DW to move to Florida.

Sounds like a plan Norm. See ya there and by then the waits for SW Galaxy’s Edge will Be manageable.

I love it when a plan comes together.

I appreciate the advice. This is the first winter since my accident happened and I'm feeling it some days. I've noticed that if i stay moving its not as stiff.

Standing up is the worse. Once going, then all is well. So, I'm going with the sit as long as I can plan. If I could get an arm's reach kegerator and put a drain in the middle of the living room floor, then I could really camp on the recliner. :lmao:

Good man. I played a guy yesterday I've narrowly lost twice to before, and won 6-2, just taking 10% off my power and pushing him to the corners.

We can usually get in three sets of doubles, rotating new partner each set. Only one player can win all three sets, which makes you the best of the day.

I rarely play singles anymore, but it is mostly due to court time & availability. We only have 6 indoor courts at $25/ hour, so 2 hours split by 4 is easier than 2. Unless it's summer & free outdoors. Then, there is the challenge of finding players. Either people are better and aren't challenged in defeating an old fat guy with two bad knees. Or, they are close to my skill level and don't want to lose to an old fat guy with two bad knees. :furious:

Achilles? Or is that another club?

Lots of room in the Elderly and Infirm club.
