Can I buy adult deluxe plan for a child?

Then we could share credits with another couple along on the trip and just pay out of pocket for the kids?

I think you may need to camp and watch the posts that come in on the "2019 DxDDP sharing" thread at the top.

While they don't always differentiate between Child and Adult Credits... TS restaurants are more likely to than others (QS typically doesn't). The thing you will run into is, when it comes time to pay that bill, is it might show on your plan "1 Child, 1 Adult DxDDP" so they may say you have to use the DxDDP for the childs meal. This isn't ALWAYS the practice however, we've seen some reports of people being able to use the DxDDP for adult meals, regardless of if it is a child or not... but your milage is probably going to vary right now. Everything seems in flux and the rules are written with enough vague language that it can be handled case by case.

You can if you make your child a "Disney adult" which is 10+ and you've also have to pay that adult price for tickets for them unless you were planning to call to book a ticketless package.

if you are booking your room through disney, you must have a room and ticket package to add dining, so you would have to put your child as an "adult" and pay the adult ticket price. if you are a dvc member, or renting dvc points, you do not need to have tickets to add the dining plan. however, according to disney they are in the process of adding the wording of "You may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are not on your Disney Dining Plan." back onto the disney dining plan brochures and it's officially their policy that sharing is not allowed. some cast members are still allowing for it but just be weary of that before making your vacation plans.

This is not true. You can purchase tickets on your own and then call to add the dining plan to your room only reservation. It’s called a ticketless package.

Then i stand corrected on that, although on the disney website it won't allow you to add a dining package without adding tickets. I guess calling will yield a different result. Either way, i still caution the OP about trying to use their credits for someone not on their reservation.

You are correct that it can not be done online. It can only be done by calling.

We are renting DVC and buying our own tickets if that makes a difference. And I want to buy adult deluxe plans for the two kids so I’m actually paying more not trying to rip anyone off. I’d just like to share some of our credits with my adult daughter and her husband.

Except that if you age your kids and go to a buffet, thay will have to pay the adult price since the system will consider them Disney adults...

I don't think they would have to do that if they're paying OOP for the children and only want to use 2 of the adult credits. They can specifically say they only want to use 2 credits for this meal. Disney may br enforcing sharing credits with others not on the plan, but they can't tell you how and in what order you are redeeming for yourself, nor do they ask for ID when redeeming them.

The problem you may run into is the owner of the DVC you're renting. They are the ones who have to request and pay for the plan, and you pay them. They may or may not be willing to do this.

Maybe it would be easier if we were to buy deluxe dining plans on our two rooms that have two adults in them and share them with my daughter and her husband in the other room and let her pay her kids out of pocket. It's so confusing

To make that even more confusing is the possibility that you can't do that at all. See the sticky on 2019 sharing actual experiences. There are ramblings that they may no longer allow you to use credits on people who are not on your plan.

I think you can easily change your reservation to 4 adults (put your kids names on the reservation but put adult ages) know one will really know any different. No one checks the IDs of other guests except the lead person. I don't even think it's an unethical thing to do. No one is being screwed on money. I don't think restaurants will be like, who is so and so and who is so and so. I don't even see it as an ethical issue because disney isn't technically losing money.

The issue with this is i believe that even though you are renting dvc, everyone on the room reservation needs to be on the same plan. The only issue i see is they may question where the kids fit into the reservation, but i can't imagine them actually trying to question that. I too am renting 2 rooms from the same owner at OKW. My travel party is my mom, dad, husband, 4 y/o daughter, infant son, and myself. I originally put my husband, my dad,my son, and myself in one room and my mom and my daughter in another. We were going to do 3 adult dxddp on one room and share with my mom and daughter in the other room. Obviously with the non sharing issue that won't work anymore (as i don't want the hassle of even trying). So now I'm doing my dining planing to see if it would make more sense to keep the 3 deluxe and pay OOP for my mom and daughter, just do the dxddp for everyone, or not at all.

After reading the other thread on dining credit sharing, it seems to be the only restaurants people had issues with were Hollywood & Vine and Prime , so I'm anxious to keep reading to see if any others become problems. If so I will just avoid those though we did love the character meal at Hollywood last year!

My trip is in december so i have time to see what actually ends up going down. If it really is just Hollywood and Prime it's no big deal because they aren't even on my radar.... but it makes you wonder why it's those restaurants only.

I’m not going till November so I will be watching this forum to see how people make out. I can decide at the last minute if I want to chance it with deluxe or go back to the regular plan.

Yes you can, but I believe you would have to age them up and pay the higher price for the tickets too.

I don't know about any of the sharing concerns, but this is what we did for my daughter on our last trip. The difference in ticket prices was negligible (less than $50 total, if I remember correctly). She was 9.5 when we went, and we already knew from a previous trip that she found the kids meals boring and not enough food. We just told MDE that her birthday was 2 months earlier than it really was, and we paid the adult prices.

Some people are mentioning buying an adult dining plan and a separate kids' ticket for admission. I have no idea if that works, but I'd be nervous to have my child marked as an adult in MDE from buying the dining plan and then try to enter the parks with a kids' ticket.
