Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

We're at least 2 years away from our next WDW trip, but considering staying at CBR. I'm very interested in checking out all the upgrades to the resort as well as the Skyliner, but also a bit concerned at how sprawling CBR is. We're guests that like to be close to what the resort has to offer-- the main pool and the dining. That said if we stay here I'd likely be inclined to go for a preferred room at Barbados or Martinique.

But... the Skyliner is a draw for me. Anyone have insight on how accessible the CBR station/hub will be once it opens? It seems very far from Old Porte Royale and from Martinique, and it also doesn't appear that it will have the most pedestrian-friendly access. I suppose Jamaica could end up with the best blend of convenience. The more I look at the skyliner station location, I start to question how much convenience it will add for those staying at CBR. Thoughts?

I personally think that Jamaica and possibly Trinidad will be a great location for the CBR hub of the Skyliner....and who knows what "Preferred" will be? Jamaica is just a bridge away from OPR and if it proves to be a great location to pick up the Skyliner then it seems to me to be the best village to stay at. Of course, I'm not an expert at CBR! I also think it's been mentioned that the pedestrian walkways should be much better once the Riviera DVC resort is completed. It will also be a great place to jump on the Skyliner if Epcot is your destination.

Jamaica will be best for the CBR Station with Aruba and Trinidad "close".

Aruba will be the best for the DRR Station with Jamaica and Martinique being "close".

So Aruba and Jamaica will be the best for close access to BOTH Stations.

Of course,a lot will also depend on exactly where in an Island a Guest is located-the best rooms for access to both Stations would be rooms in Jamaica and Aruba where the 2 Islands "meet" each other.:)

TFS I don't know if it helped me with trying to decide with what building to request lol but it was a good read.
I agree. He mentions Pirate rooms as being a terrible place to stay now but doesn't mention it after all the Skyliner work is done. I was just getting accustomed to the idea for our December trip![/QUOTE]

In regards to the bus situation. I'm aware there are several stops and that doesn't bother me. I know bus service can be great or not so great on any given day at any resort. I'm wondering if anyone has first hand experience with just how much they pack the buses though. We've stayed at other resorts where a couple of times the bus became so packed that I really wanted nothing more than to escape through the hatch in the ceiling. I'm not claustrophobic and I don't mind standing from time to time, but the particular situations that I'm referring to were so bad that I actually wrote to Disney about them. The driver kept making everyone scoot back when there wasn't anywhere to scoot. It was incredibly uncomfortable, awkward, and felt unsafe. So....CBR...is it usually like that since it is a large resort, or do they maybe send extra buses? I'm looking forward to giving CBR a try just really concerned about whether or not to attempt riding the bus.

I dont think it's as much of a Resort thing as it is busdriver thing. I've been on buses as you describe and it isnt narrowed down to any specific resort. Of course at park close they are going to try and get as many folks as they can to get everyone back to their resorts.

I've wondered about it being a bus driver thing too. Does anyone know what the actual rules are for loading a bus, or what is considered capacity? Is there a code? Are they just more like guidelines anyway ;) Curious.

To my knowledge, the only restriction is that all Guests must be behind the "Yellow Line" at the front of the bus.

There is so much information here! I can't find the answer to this question though--we have 2 adults and 3 kids so need the pull-down sleeper. The website shows only a "preferred" room available which does not specify "5th Sleeper." Am I OK with that booking category?

Yes. The bookable 5th sleeper category is for parties that want a 3rd sleeping surface to make sure they get one. If you have 5 in your party over the age of 3 you will automatically receive a room with the Murphy bed.

That Pirate Room specific review link is from 2017 or older I think, didn't spot any dates. I gave it a quick scan and it seems to be the same and not updated. Once the Skyliner opens it will definitely be outdated, currently it's not very fair unless you are very picky or plan on doing a heavy resort time type of trip, or both. In 2018 I've done Spring Break and Thanksgiving in Trinidad and loved it.

Will be at CBR on Saturday. As of now, weather says around 80. Sounds like a great pool day!! We don't do parks on arrival day, so will just chill at the pool in the afternoon before dinner at Boma. It's going to be cold and potential for a bigger snow storm here this weekend, even better to be in Disney.

We go to cbr in about 2 weeks. We just got some nasty snow and ice here and it says this weekend is going to be a high of 5....that’s ridiculous.

Therefore,if being close to the Skyliner is your priority, all you need to do is book a Standard room and you are good to go. You can then request in the middle for equal access,or closer to 1 station or the other.

Just made reservations for August 2019.

Any idea what villages will have the Standard View - 5th Sleeper rooms or are they just spread out through the resort?
