Deluxe Resorts Sold Out for Dec 2019 Already?

I sometimes use TA's. I usually go online and check availability, dates and cost and then email the agent. In the end it saves me time-less back and forth.

I dp as well. Sometimes you just luck up into a deal. I was able to apply a 20% discount to our March trip this way. There is no way a travel agent can keep up with everything.

Maybe the OP should change the thread title. It does read as all deluxe hotels are sold out. And I also took her post to mean that CR was 1 of the resorts she wanted, not the only option. In either case, I think it is ok to clarify that there are indeed deluxe resort rooms available, so anyone else who reads the thread won’t get incorrect information.
That's legit what it looked like at the time. It's a moot point for the time being now. The Government Shutdown has resulted in me not getting paid till it's over, so no deposit till it's over

Shutdowns and furloughs are awful. I am sorry you are having to deal with this.

OP, would you consider Bay Lake Tower ? DVC rooms rented by Disney like hotel rooms are not yet released for December 2019 - they release them anywhere from 11 to about 9 months out, depending on the resort [you can put in dummy dates on the WDW website to see what availability is like X months out; I've been doing it for months to get a handle on what our preferred resorts availability is like at what points so I know when to be ready to reserve -- we are looking at a split stay with a cruise in between and the two resorts have different release patterns].

I suggest a strategy of book at a hotel you are willing to stay at [as others have noted, there are other Deluxe with availability] -- that way you have a room for your dates ! -- and then keep checking for CR [and possibly BLT] availability to change the reservation to. People cancel, BLT gets opened for reservations, rooms become available. We are doing this for our next trip, though at least within the same resorts: we want DVC studios, and will book direct with Disney. But if we can't get that we would be happy to stay in the hotel side at each resort. So I booked hotel rooms for our stay as soon as it was possible to [400 and whatever days out]. We will be happy if we stay there and are willing to pay rack rate if there are no deals ultimately available. When DVC rooms become available to book I will switch the reservation to them. If for some reason that isn't possible, we'll keep the hotel side we already have.

Which makes no sense. Booking rooms on spec removes them from inventory, and reduces or eliminates the need for Disney to offer any kind of discount or incentive.

Unfortunately I think a lot of people don't realize that. Just as many think if you have a room reservation when a discount comes out for that resort you can just have it applied -- not realizing there is only a limited # of rooms of certain types available at the resort that the discount can apply to; its not like an x% off coupon at a store that can be used on anything, but I get the impression most people think it is more like that than how Disney actually structures it.

Our strategy is to book as early as possible at rack rate so we have a room at a resort we want to stay at at a price we are willing to pay. We then hope for a discount [preferably room only] that can be applied later, but the trip is going to happen with or without the discount.

Personally think a lot of people are planning for Star Wars opening up. I made our reservation for the GFV 11 months out for thanksgiving and not much was open for our full stay. Boardwalk also had limited availability for the whole week of thanksgiving. I think once Star Wars is given an official opening date things will change. Mind you I also was on at 8am to book and was done in 10 minutes but had difficulty getting everything we wanted.

I just logged in (12:42pm on 12/26/18) and the only Deluxe resort that had no availability was the Wilderness Lodge.

I think this is it as well - people in several disneyngroupsmi follow on Fb have said they have several trips booked and once he announcement has been made, they will cancel The unneeded dates

So, I'm swapping e-mails with our travel agent and we were ready to finally take the plunge and stay in one of the Deluxe resorts (I've wanted to stay in the Contemporary since I was a kid) and...apparently they're completely sold out Nov 30 to Dec 7th of 2019. Is it normal for stuff to be completely booked up this far in advance?
I've stayed at Contemporary and LOVED IT

slightly :offtopic:, but is the current thinking that everyone just wants to go for opening weekend and then it'll calm down? We're booked the same week as OP is considering (week after Thanksgiving) and DH is terrified it'll be a zoo because SWGE will have opened by then.

Nobody knows for sure. But my money is on it being a zoo for quite some time.

With Toy Story opening this year, and SWGE opening in 2019, its going to be a zoo - not including that the 50th is coming up and there is other construction going on so that will effect things as well
