Outside food at table service restaurant

We are planning some table service restaurant experiences while at Disney, but don't want to waste food or money!
Do you get in trouble for bringing food into the restaurant? For example, my 3 year old loves PB&J sandwiches. Can I bring one in for her to eat while the rest of us order off the menu?

I think the exception to this might be buffet/family style meals like Chef Mickeys or Garden Grill. I think they set the price by age of guests, regardless of what they eat. That’s why our buffet style meals stopped for a while when my twins turned 9 and hit the adult prices. If it’s a menu order, I can’t see a problem at all.

We have done this many times when my boys were younger. My youngest who is now 8 is still pretty picky, and sometimes we will just grab him a soft pretzel or hot dog or something similar while the rest of us order off the menu. Definitely won't be a problem.

I thought 10 was the age adult prices start?

Unless there are dietary issues, children 3 and over are expected to order. Under 3 they eat off your plate and are no charge at aycte, family style and prepaid dinners

But over 3 is expected to order w the family or still share. Bringing a full meal vs goldfish to tide them over is beyond tacky, imho. And I am very supportive of most things

If budget is such a concern, maybe less ts, more cs?

With a 3-year old, I don't think anyone will bat an eye. When my DS was younger, he was very picky and I used to get him something at a QS prior to our TS so I knew he would eat something. I would then give him some toddler snacks at the TS and, perhaps, order him an app or dessert (whatever was on the menu I thought he would like). No one ever told me I was required to order a full kids meal for him.

The only place this wouldn't work, as others have noted, would be a buffet or AYCTE meal where they are going to charge you the kids' price for the meal (for children between 3 - 9) no matter what your child eats.

I said 3, but she actually turns 3 a few days after we leave Disney. Whoops! ;)
I'm planning on just bringing her PB+J sandwich, and will probably order her a kid's side or let her share fries or whatever with me. She just won't eat mac n cheese or chicken fingers or anything like that. Gotta love toddlers.

Go for it. Totally fine.

As long as we won’t get in trouble, I will! It’ll be a couple of meals that I’ve checked the menus and she won’t eat anything from there. I’m not worried about being tacky (in front of who anyway?), I’ll be wearing Minnie ears! Tacky all day!

Totally fine. In fact we brought in 2 full QS meals for our 11 year olds to the HBD lounge. Yes, I know I'm referring to a lounge and not a true TS, but we asked the server when we were seated if she would mind us doing so and she had no problem with it at all. One of us adults ran over to Backlot Express, got the kids their chicken & waffles and brought them back to the lounge. The server even asked the kids if they needed any condiments for their nuggets and fries.
That being said, we did order drinks for the kids and tipped as if we had ordered them food as well. We also would have had no issue ordering an app or something for them to share and going to Backlot for them afterward and made sure they were aware that this would be a possibility.

Just an FYI if you didn't know- since she is still under 3 on your trip, she can actually eat for free at the buffet/all you can eat places if you have any of those planned. A lot of other places with kids meals also tend to have PB&J uncrustables on the menu if she will eat those.

I don't see it as tacky in the context of Disney World and dealing with toddlers. Disney is so accommodating when it comes to these things. Believe me, a toddler eating a sandwich in a table service restaurant is definitely not the weirdest thing they've encountered.

You will be fine. Anyone that has a problem with your 2 year old toddler eating brought in food....well, that's their problem. WDW won't care.
