Uber Or ART?

Hi all,

I'll be in the DLR in just TWO WEEKS! Fiance and I are staying at Worldmark Anaheim (thankful for my parents lending me their timeshare points as an early Christmas present <3 ). We were trying to decide if we would rather take an Uber or purchase an Anaheim Resort Transportation pass to get to DL. We like the convenience of Uber, but I like the price of the ART passes better. So my question is, which do you prefer? Also, do you know if there is any luck with grabbing an early-morning Uber? I know it's a 24/7 service technically, but I'm not sure if we will have luck finding one at 6:30 am lol. I should also mention that we will be taking breaks so we would need an Uber a minimum of 4 times a day.

Thanks!

6:30 is not really that early for Uber. You should be fine.
Ok! I wasn't sure, but after thinking about it I figured there would be plenty of people standing by just for the fact that people want to go to the parks early. I'm still considering the price vs ART.

... I'm still considering the price vs ART.
Make sure to factor in the cost of convenience and lower stress, as well as the actual dollar price. Saving a few dollars can be important, but if the shuttles are crowded or the wait is longer than expected, it can be worth the extra cost to get Uber or Lyft to lower your stress. We love saving money as much as the next person, but we're also willing to pay where it counts to make the trips easier for my health. If the price difference isn't major, I'd go with Uber/Lyft just for the flexibility it will give you. Just something to consider...

Probably Uber, it's just so nice to have door to door.

Although we did Uber over and ART back when we stayed in an RV park. But that was because the park was the first stop so we didn't have to sit on a crowded shuttle for a long ride.

Uber is never a problem when ever you request it. Uber or Lyft, those guys will always be available anytime of day.

The way I think of it is- How much is an hour or two in the parks worth to you? Divide your ticket or AP price up into hours spent in the park. No way am I wasting time on ART to save a few bucks. ART comes once every half hour(?) but is often so full you’ll have to wait for a second one. So you could be spending an hour each time just waiting to start the journey where you stop at every single hotel between yours and the parks. That journey can also add a decent chunk of time on. If you need to use ART a minimum of 4 times a day that starts equally A LOT of missed park time each day. I’d rather be in the parks having fun than still waiting to get onto a crammed packed shuttle.

When I used ART last December (from the Anaheim Hilton) I don't think I ever waited more than 5 minutes, it didn't stop at any other hotels, and it was never too full for me to not have a seat.

We prefer taking Uber or Lyft over the ART. We agree with a lot of the previous post about time verses saving money. We are all about saving money BUT when you have been in the park all day and find yourself waiting in a long line to find that the bus is full sure makes having a car waiting for you worth all the money!

Never have we had a problem with using either Uber or Lyft an we have had some pretty awesome conversations with our drivers !

Enjoy your trip!

We have annual passes and stay at Worldmark Anaheim several times a year, in fact we are going in 3 weeks. We typically use ART because we tend to go over early in the morning, then back to the hotel to take a break in the afternoon, then back over at night. The price for four trips on Uber will be much more expensive. Also, while ART bus 8 stops right in front of Worldmark, bus 7 drops off right behind Worldmark at the entrance to Extended Stay, so that makes getting back from the park easier because you can use either bus. As for Uber early in the morning that has never been a problem. I have had to take early flights home and there are always plenty of Uber and Lyft drivers available.

Thanks everyone!! Fiance is more inclined to Uber too- based off this board and his preferences I think that's what we'll be doing!
Don't forget promos if you haven't signed up for Uber yet. Also, Lyft operates in the area as well and tends to do dribble out promos for first time Lyft riders that are perfect if you're making multiple short trips. I helped one of my parents refer the other one in Orlando last week so they each got $5 off 4 rides in the Orlando area (so make sure to do it while in Anaheim).

I stay at Motel 6 Maingate on Disney Way and have never had issues like this. Motel 6 has a short loop with few pickups, in the mornings have waited less than 10 minutes, at night the same. Motel 6 is the first pickup / drop off and the bus is rarely full. Also I dont leave the parks in the afternoon, I arrive at around 8am and leave around 11pm
