We have a ridiculous number of pts expiring at the end of November (~180pts) What are our options? We had banked a bunch from last year, used a bunch this year and tried using more but checking since July, the dates we wanted haven't been available. A couple weeks ago we sent in to David's to rent them out, we've never used them before, but haven't heard any requests. When I followed up the other day they said there is no availability for people to book anything (same problem we ran into)

So...? If we transfer into RCI does the travel/reservation have to be within the UY? Same for a cruise, does the cruise have to occur before then end of UY?

On the upside, people are traveling again, parks are full, economy must be doing better.. ;-P

Thanks,

I have heard, but still haven’t confirmed, that if you transfer the points (find someone to pay you to Transfer them), then that person would still be able to bank them, right up to the expiration date.

Another option is to just call DVC Member services, and beg them to grant you an exception so you can bank them. If you can give them a ‘reason’ they are especially likely to let you do it.

Let us know what happens with you.

Another option would be to book a RCI vacation you can do that up to 2 years out. Have in mind going that route means that if you cancel that vacation your points will stay in RCI and will not be returned.

At least it is only 180pts, when I heard a ton, I figured between 600-800
I was looking again to figure out how we got into this problem and realized we had banked everything we could mid year ---I couldn't figure out why I didn't bank these too. These are points we had banked forward from a previous year.

There's a couple single nights here and there ..if you don't go the rci route at least try to find renters for those random days.

I did see more availability for aulani, but that's a tough sale last minute.

Good luck I would hate to see anyone loose every last one of those points.

If nothing else at least transfer them into RCI and see what you find there in the next year or two.

Or keep an eye out for last minute cancellations if you are flexible and able to make a last minute trip.

I'd definitely go the RCI route before losing them right now. Worst case, you don't find anything through RCI in the next few years and they end up lost. But, without that, you will lose them anyway, so at least it gives you the potential for some other type of trip.

I know everyone keeps telling you to deposit into RCI but its too late for that as well. You can deposit into RCI up to 45 days before they expire. Your best bet is going to be to book a trip for a friend or family member.

Is there any availability anywhere by the end of November? Perhaps book something (probably SSR unless you stalk something else) and do a last minute rental through David's. That's likely the best hope of not losing them outright at this point.

As I said, I have heard that if you transfer them, then that person could still bank them. See if anyone is interested in buying them from you, for transfer. I’m assuming they will verify this before they do.

The points have to be eligible to be banked and these are not because they were already banked from the previous year. The little transfer loophole doesn't wipe that rule away.

Ah. I missed that. I thought they just couldn’t be banked because they were passed the standard banking date.

I hope not, already too hard to get reservations with the current points available, can't imagine what it would be like if they did not hold to the expiration dates.

No, DVC will not make an exception and double bank points. These points were already banked from the previous year. If these were current points, then maybe, but not already banked points.
