"Official" 2018 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party - Holiday Magic

I would love some advice because I don't want to do anything frowned upon, and this is our first time with ECV's so we don't have the experience to help us. My mom and Dad will be using ECV's and are inexperienced WDW newbies. I will have our DS6 in our double stroller (double long, not double wide - DS9 would likely hop on the back little platform to watch the parade). I presume there is "reserved" parade viewing for those with ECV's and perhaps a companion? Here's the plan and potential dilemma:

After the 8:15 FHW, go to 8:35 TTC show. From there, DW and DS9 go to Club Tinsel, while my mom and dad stay at TL stage for Edge Effect.

While they do that, I will have the stroller and me, DS6 and perhaps DS14 will stake out a spot on Main Street for fireworks and parade. The parade is after the fireworks, which start at 10, and based on the time frame, it would be about 9 when I am back on Main Street. That is 1 hour before fireworks and 2 hours before parade.

Will we be able to stake a handicap parade viewing area for the 2 ECV's and stroller at that time (I assume that should be plenty of time), but would it be a problem because we would be holding the spot without the ECV's, since they won't arrive until after Edge Effect, approximately 9:30?

Finally, can we leave the ECV's and stroller there at the parade viewing spot and meander into the street area for better fireworks viewing and then go back to the parade viewing spot? My parents are not permanently disabled and will be able to get up and walk as needed.

Well, that's strange. I would have thought there were designated wheelchair areas for parade viewings. Several other places I have read about wheelchair viewing places, and I thought I recall seeing taped off sections in different parks for wheelchair seating. Am I missing something??
 


thanks for posting the viewing area with the Tony's Party. I will be purchasing that party for the 11 of us today. I don't relish shelling out more $$$$ but my DH likes the dedicated parade viewing option and so do I. I loved our viewing for the Parade and Fireworks in 2015 and 2016 for MNSSHP and Villain Soiree.

Oh and had to post my opinion on ECV - if ECV had a guaranteed viewing of fireworks AND parade then renting ECVs would be cheaper than Party tickets and if that were the case then there would be ALOT of ECVs in the park.

When we walked through Liberty Square around 8:15 I saw ropes with wheelchair signs hanging from them and plenty of ECVs parked in those areas.

I didn't mean guaranteed area, just a disgnated area, that still functions as first come first served.

Parked, as in people left them parked in there and otherwise wandering around? Or parked, with people on them waiting for the festivities? Regardless, was it packed or was there still available space?

There was that area for ECV or wheelchairs in Liberty square for the parade but it’s limited space. There are MANY ECVs in the park. Wouldn’t plan on getting into this special area. Also, please be aware that unattended ECVs are sometimes moved (like strollers). Cast members may move them to make more space or turn them around. (You May have parked them nose first and come back to them faced to just let you drive straight out.) I mention this to avoid any panic as you may need to look in the vicinity for your ECVs.

I meant the ECVs with the riders parked in designated wheelchair accessible area. I believe it functions as first come first served. We walked through at 8:15 and it was packed, so you would need to get there early for a designated area.

There are spots for handicapped viewing. From what I saw last week you will need to line up for it as early as you would have to line up somewhere along the street. Leaving the stroller and ECV's parked in the parade viewing spot (assuming you get in there) and walking out to see the fireworks would be a no-no. You would need to find the designated ECV/Stroller parking area and that will not be the area that was reserved for viewing.
 
What time do they start allowing people with wrist bands for the party to take the magic shot at the entrance to magic kingdom? We will get our wrist bands at 2 because we are DVC, will we be able to get that magic shot then?

Darn! I was hoping to get that at MK. It looks like I might just be getting the free stuff during the party. The pay desserts aren't really jumping out at me. The yule log is tempting, but they have that at the Jingle Bell Jingle Bam dessert party that we will do later. I don't have much time at DHS to get the egg nog dessert there, but I guess that's what I'll have to do. So many special desserts, so little time.

Last year at MNSSHP, my family found a particular combination helpful for parade and firework viewing. It might not be good for everyone, but it worked well for 2 adults in EVC's, a special needs child, and 2 able-bodied adults.

We attended the garden dessert party first, arriving at Tomorrowland Terrace at 9pm. Afterwards, we viewed the fireworks from the roped off handicapped section of the garden ( great view with no obstruction for those seated). After the fireworks, around 10:20pm, we head to the nearby hub. They hadn't even roped off the handicapped section for parade viewing yet, but we were able to secure a curb spot together, facing South East in the hub. By 10:40ish, they roped the area off, giving us more space.

It was a great, low stress way to get unobstructed viewing for everyone.

You’re right, there was no PhotoPass photographer. We had a blast meeting them. Bert is a hoot! We had no plans to meet them, but when we walked by there were only 5-6 parties in line, so we couldn’t resist.
