DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Happy Monday Guys:goodvibes As of 5pm today I am officially on vacation for 8 days:banana::dancer::woohoo:, with 3 days ay WDW:smickey::mickeyjum:goofy::figment::hmghost:
Certainly makes my Monday look... ummmm... unimpressive.

Enjoy the trip!

Just saw a weather forecast that said we could get snow tomorrow night. Nope, no time for that yet.
It actually got down into the 30sF all the way down here.
Given the serious cold front required for that to happen, I wouldn't be surprised if y'all did get snow this early.

Yes! Finally!
Just got home from work and have (possibly) three days off after 14 shifts in the last 13 days.
Possibly?

Oy vey...
Just thinking about your work schedule makes me hurt.

Then there was that Thanksgiving where the mods almost forced a few of us to take a permanent break...

It was an interesting chapter in disdad history.

I have no idea what they were thinking...they knew better.

Of course, it also got us put in our own little sub forum, as opposed to just being a thread in the Family Forum.

I have, naturally, drifted in and out despite being around from the beginning...LOL. Oh the days of posting EAAARLLLY in the morning (for you guys) from the Middle East.

On another note I just got back last week, and after catching up last week on stuff I actually get paid to do:

1. DHS is a mess travel wise. We drove once and took the buses once (We were in Saratoga Springs). Honestly it was a push as far as which was better. That said, hopefully you're not claustrophobic. If so, don't follow a crowd to either the tram or the buses.

2. Crowds were generally manageable despite it being a Holiday Week. I still hate that you have to plan everything to the nth degree nowadays, but whatever. Is what it is.

3. Food and Wine wasn't too bad even on Friday night. Actually could stand at a table and not a garbage can while eating all the things....LOL

4. Disney Transportation is questionable at best sometimes. Of course I can't even comprehend the logistics of moving that many people.

5. I avoided every metal detector----must not look shady....LOL

Back to working and coaching for me. Looking forward to my new position. 4 more years left on my sentence.....

Enjoy! Have a Dole Whip on us!

I noticed that in your forecast. The jet stream is a bit wonky, but doing this nice little bend upwards giving warmish air to us here (warm being relative but at least it's 10 degrees above freezing). If you do get snow, I'll just be happy knowing you and pkdonz got snow before me.

Yuck, sounds terrible. I hope you get a break.

Yeah, it was a mess in August, a shame it's still that way.

The Halloween Party was unbelievably crowded---even on a Tuesday.

I'm not sold that the parties are worth it anymore.
My opinion - they're not worth it. I came to that sad conclusion after my third and likely last MNSSHP in August.

After doing our first MNSSHP on our parents only trip, I too agree that these events are not worth it. It was nice and cool to see different parade and fireworks but I can think of other things to spend that kind of coin on while at DaWorld, especially with the continuing price hikes.

Start the countdown clock. Will your new position let you stay at home?

I wish. Moving from Discipline to Another at another location---but my commute goes waaaaaaaaaay down...so I guess that's good.

Right there with you

It could happen but then again, didn't you have a snowstorm in early June?

Whoa! Cold for you guys.

me too.

One other thing.

Sorry to hear that. Last time I went, I had a blast and didn't find it overly crowded.

We'll see. Just depends on if others call in sick or not.

A funny story. I was at work this morning and DW told my oldest dd to clean her room before dd went to work. She didn't and left. I came home from work and DW & I went over and I drove my car (the one she drives) back home. I texted dd and told her, and then went & picked her up from work in the same car. She's mad that I'm using her gasoline. I said consequences.
Bummer. Good work!

What part of FL did you pick? More importantly, how close to WDW?
Haven't picked yet, per se. I'm renting a place for a couple months in the Conway area (about 5--10 min North of the airport). The places I'm looking at (at least for now) are South of the airport and a bit closer to WDW.

It's a little different up here, we have two different levels. The top level now called USports and the second level uses the CCAA banner (mostly small universities and all the colleges). His basketball coach has been talking to a couple of USport teams about him and thinks he could play that that level. There aren't many volleyball schools at that level around here but he would be hard pressed to play at that level right now. He could easily play at the CCAA level in both sports if one of those schools fit his career plans.

Well, has to be better than NCAA. :lmao: My youngest is close to Division 2 player for tennis as I play with those college players from to time. She also jumped and touched the rim in practice today.

Somehow, DW has hit every metal detector. I think she is on the terrorist watch list.

And, I say that I have four more years before I am eligible for parole. :lmao:

We went to 6 or 7 consecutive years of MNSSHPs, and two in one trip. We did not get theme park tickets on those days, slept in, and went to the party at 4. As the years progressed, they were substantially more crowded. The Hallo-Wishes fireworks and parade are still the beat.

We'll see. Just depends on if others call in sick or not.

Don't answer the phone when they call you to cover.

You are really close down there. We've been over to Celebration and a couple other places scouting for potential future locations, although, I think we will end up closer to the beach.

Pretty sure I was sentenced to 30 to life, Life is looking more likely.

So day 2 of the great Austin water crisis continues. The entire city is on a boil water notice and people have lost their minds. They bought every bottle of water in the county. I am convinced that if there was a Zombie apocalypse 90% of the people I work with wouldn't make it past day 1. We knew we would need water for our staff so we called our industrial material supplier and boom 100 cases are on the way, from out of the area where they have plenty of stock, we had everything under control. But our "senior management" went into full panic and made our team start going to Sams and Costco in the area to find some right away. We wasted 1/2 a day to buy 6 cases of water.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Buy some lottery tickets, somebody has to win and might as well be one of us.

Hope things calm down for you soon.

Haven't even put the scraper back in the car yet; yes I am a rebel. ;)

You live life on the edge.

When we have those (happened 2-3 times), people shrug and just go about their day.
