Resort Parking fee for Handicap vehicle?

As usual, the Mom's panel is giving out incorrect information. They are not charging guests with handicapped placards/plates for valet or overnight parking.

Oh. Sorry! I naively thought the Moms Panel would know what was going on. I should have known better. I guess if CMs often don't know, the Moms have even less of a chance.

Don't be sorry. You would think they would know what's going on and sometimes they do. But they do often give out incorrect information just like the phone CMs do.

My DH mentioned to our offsite hotel that I was outside waiting in the car/valet until we got a room (we were a bit early) as I was having a bad balance day...she immediately assumed I was disabled, and gave us free valet. We were not expecting nor asking for it, but I wonder if it's Orlando wide?

What hotel? We often have it waived at hotels but have been refused at all Orlando hotels, even brands that do it elsewhere. I ask every trip.

I don’t follow here. What does being handicapped have to do with paying the same fee everyone else parking a car does? As long as the HA spots are only available for those who need them, that’s equal access.

As one with a HA tag I agree on the surface BUT at Disney it’s a different animal. Disney attracts many people that might have the need. And while Disney is ADA compliant by letter of law the actual number of spots is far less than need. We rarely are able to get a spot .... so often means parking farther out and defeating purpose. Disney in essence is buying off our complaints and extra efforts for our family member. Now if they want to greatly increase those spots and charge, I’d understand.

To verify was there two weeks ago and no charge for parking at POP.

Can we all just agree that Disney charging you to park at the resorts is nothing but a massive money grab and absolutely ludicrous? Heck, they just added $250 to our 13 night stay for next year. (Money I'm sure anyone would rather spend on souvenirs, food, or anything else vacation related for that matter).

That's insane no matter how you look at it. Besides the fact that charging to park at the resorts pretty much negates the "you get free parking at the parks as a resort guest" perk.

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. My disability is improving, so it was just a "bad day" issue for me, not something we'd ask for. They offered it very willingly. I got the impression it was definitely that hotels policy if not maybe a larger policy. I understand up thread that it isn't Orlando wide.

We also have a placard. I had it hanging on the mirror before we pulled into the Beach Club. We came and went a few times throughout our stay and when it was time for checking out, we were not charged.
