Hi all :earsgirl: My fiance and I are planning a trip to Disney World for our honeymoon next October (2019). I've been when I was a teenager and I have planned two DL trips, but I haven't tackled DW yet. I was looking for suggestions on the following:

1. Hotels- What's most romantic? We are looking at both Deluxe (renting DVC points if possible) and Moderate resorts.

2. What are MUST DO's for a romantic Disney vacation. Experiences/tours/sights/anything else

3. Most romantic dining. We are looking to have a nice dinner. *Bonus points if it's vegetarian friendly (for me)

For resorts I would say GF or Polynesian for deluxe, or Port Orleans for moderate. We went to the Spirit of Aloha dinner at the Polynesian and had a great time, they called all newlyweds up to the stage for a dance and it was very sweet. We also did a dinner at Narcoosees at GF and had a great time. The food was excellent, service was amazing and they invite you back to the veranda for fireworks at 9:00. It was beautiful! Congrats!

I think most of the themes at the resorts are romantic if you like the theme. The 2 that stand out for me are:

* Animal Kingdom Lodge - Savannah View - the resort is absolutely beautiful with SO much to do that you don't even really need to leave the resort. The resort has the 2 buildings ( Jambo and Kidani ) and Jambo, IMO, was the prettier of the 2. There is also great dining options at the resort itself. The only drawback for us was we took Disney transportation and buses were crowded. But that can happen at any of the resorts.
* The other is Port Orleans Riverside - any view but we love the Bayou section. We also like that you can get a King Bed room here ( it's a booking option ) where as you can't get one at AKL. It's also nice that this resort has a TS restaurant. It also has live entertainment several nights a week.

I've also seen the concept art for Coronado Springs new building and over the water restaurant. It looks amazing. If I was planning a romantic trip, I'd be exploring this resort as an option as well.

I also think the Beach Club at night is very romantic - not to mention the whole Boardwalk area. We did the Yachtsman Steakhouse but I don't think they had a large selection of vegan options. But there are so many restaurants in that area that are walking distance ( Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin ) that you should be able to find one that has better options.

For comparison I too am doing my honeymoon in WDW next July and am a WDW regular. I was looking at basically the same things you are.

I originally booked a preferred room at Port Orleans riverside based its location to Disney Springs (We are big foodies and love our booze) and most of what i read its a very romantic, quiet resort. Being able to hop on a boat at the end of the day to go get food and drinks was very appealing.

However, I ended up getting a fantastic rate for AKL Savannah view renting DVC points from someone on this board. I stayed here in September solo and the resort is beautiful. We loved the idea of being able to wake up order room service and just watch the animals out in the Savannah. A second key factor was the food options at AKL as most are very good.

Other hotels we would have considered especially on our Honeymoon:
Wilderness Lodge
Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter
Polynesian

Other things we have planned around WDW are:

Couples massage at one of the spa's... most likely in AKL
California Grill Dinner on 4th of July
STK
Ohana with drinks at Trader Sams first (Neither of us have ever been and despite some recent reviews we really want to try it)
Savor the Savannah Dinner Tour at Animal Kingdom (Doing this on my soon to be wife's 30th birthday)
Boma breakfast at AKL
Sanaa

Will also probably schedule a desert party one night in MK but haven't looked to deep into that yet. Neither of us had done that before so we are trying to do new experiences. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to DM me.

Hi all :earsgirl: My fiance and I are planning a trip to Disney World for our honeymoon next October (2019).

How wonderful! Congratulations!

1. Hotels- What's most romantic? We are looking at both Deluxe (renting DVC points if possible) and Moderate resorts.

I am going to suggest renting points at the Boardwalk or the Beach Club. Not because the resorts themselves are necessarily the most romantic but because the Epcot resort area is very special and the proximity to Epcot is wonderful for adults. There is so much to do and places to eat all within walking distance.

DW and I have stayed at the BWI many times. For me, a villa overlooking the Boardwalk would be very special.

Plan a spa visit to the GF to enjoy the elegance of that resort. Have a meal at the Poly and wander the grounds afterwards.

2. What are MUST DO's for a romantic Disney vacation. Experiences/tours/sights/anything else

I would want to watch the major fireworks shows at each of the parks. Perhaps splurging for one of the Dessert Parties to get special viewing and treats.

A tour would be a nice addition though if you haven't been to WDW in a while you'll probably be busy just absorbing all of the parks. I have felt that picking a tour is a fairly personal thing, what interests me might not interest you. If you've got a favorite park, perhaps there is a tour in that park that would capture your attention. Wild Africa Trek or perhaps splurge for the Ultimate Nights of Adventure VIP Tour in AK. A more modest experience at the AK is the Caring for Giants tour. At the MK there is the Marceline to Magic tour or another splurge for the new The Ultimate Disney Classics VIP tour.

3. Most romantic dining. We are looking to have a nice dinner. *Bonus points if it's vegetarian friendly (for me)

DW and I are not foodies so I can't be much help here. We are satisfied with QS. You might want to post this question over on the Restaurants forum.
Wishing you a pixiedust: visit!

Little tip I forgot to mention! If you have dinner at the Grand Floridian or Contemporary they allow you to come back and watch the fireworks from their property at no extra charge. We were originally going to book a fireworks dessert party but came across this tip on this board. We went last Saturday to Narcoosees and they led us out to the veranda afterward. There were only 5 other people with us and we were allowed to bring our drinks. It was a PERFECT ending to our honeymoon.

Grand Floridan and Animal Kingdom... one of our favorite things to do is watch the fireworks from GF or Contemporary to get a nice difference and have a drink!

  • Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or CR Theme Park View
  • Dinner at California Grill with fireworks
  • MK Fireworks at night
  • PM EMH at the parks
  • Signature meals
  • Pool time

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for our honeymoon and loved the quiet, theming and extra things to do there! I would highly recommend!

Loved dinner at California Grill then catwalk to watch fireworks, dinner at Jiko in Animal Kingdom Lodge is a must do romantic dinner and awesome food!
