Every Mile is a Miracle

Great underwater shots. I especially love that B&W one of your daughter jumping in with all the bubbles!

We got our eldest a waterproof camera for her 10th birthday, and it comes with us every holiday. Some of my favourite snaps are from that camera, we have so much fun in the pool with it.

And kudos to Brad for his awesome beard (been meaning to give credit for a while on that)

Thank you!

I don't use mine too often because it's a case for my DSLR camera, but when I remember to lug it out I love it!

And thanks. He constantly gets compliments on his beard. This one is at about a year of growth I think?

Imma need you to bring that camera case in January, m’kay? Cuz Shipwreck Slide.
Good thing I am flying SW and get two free checked bags! I'll totes bring it!

I love pool days! I didn't know they made a waterproof case for DSLR cameras. Hmmm...might make a good Christmas gift for the hubby.

Wednesday Ramblings...
- I bailed on my run yesterday morning, so I just moved my schedule a bit which could have the potential to suck later. Whatever. I'll live.
- I listened to the DIS Podcast this morning (the Disneyland edition) and they were talking all about Halloween at DL/DCA. It got me really excited to go there next month.
- Things I am looking forward to the most: GotG Monsters After Dark, Space Mountain's Ghost Galaxy Overlay, and FINALLY going on the Haunted Mansion with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.
- Other things I am excited for: the food. Duh.
- I was going to get a shirt for our trip that says "At my Favorite Mansion with my Favorite Ghosts" but realized that it wouldn't be true because of the NBC overlay, but whatever. I think I am going to get it anyway because I can re-wear that during any other DL/WDW trips.
- It's hump day and my least favorite day of the week.
- I am just ready to go back to bed now.

I went to Disneyland on a semi spur of the moment trip Halloween weekend about 9 years ago. I had a lot of fun. The Halloween party was long sold out, but I knew that before I decided to head down there. I'd love to go down again for Halloween, but September and October are very difficult to get the time off work so if it never happens again, at least I got to do it once.

1. I really enjoyed Ghost Galaxy. A fun new way to experience Space Mountain.

2. The characters in their Halloween costumes were great. My favorite came when Dale (prisoner) escaped from Chip (police officer) and proceeded to "hide" from him amongst the guests waiting in line to meet them and the CMs keeping an eye on the line. Eventually, Chip caught him, patted him down, and made him get back in line so they could continue to take photos with guests. Those two are funny enough when separate, but really up the ante when together. Maybe someday I'll get to see them drive Donald Duck up the wall. I can only imagine what that's like.

3. I really enjoyed the Halloween fireworks. Back then they were not tied to the party, so they ran every night.

I have only ran once this week. I think this training plan was just too long to keep my interest. And life is hard. And my mental health is a mess right now. So yeah.

I don't plan on bailing on my two long runs this weekend but I really wish I didn't blow off my speed workout this week. Ugh.

1. Those underwater pictures are so cool! I can tell Bay has such a spunky, fun personality just from your pictures!
2. I can't wait to hear about your DLR Halloween trip! Ahh!!
3. I think I had that exact same swim team suit but in blue!
4. Sorry life is hard.

Hugs. So many hugs. All the hugs.:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

And yeah, long training plans can be hard. By the end you're kinda just done. I had that with my last one. There comes a point where you just want to get to race day already (and it's probably even worse for you because you were already almost at race day), and it gets so tempting to skip runs. But you just have to find a way to either push through or be okay with skipping a few runs. Or both. It's tough, but you just have to keep moving forward. Or something.
Also ... they say exercise is really good for your mental health. So even if you don't feel up to running, try to get something in - maybe hit the pool for a few laps or take a ride on that fancy bike of yours or take a short walk or hike with your family. It may help a drop.

I believe the wisdom from others here is that missing a speed workout or two is not going to tank you in the long run, and that you still have the opportunity to run those last few on the plan.
I would also state that taking care of all aspects of your self is necessary to make it to the race, let alone the finish line. So, if you need a day off to make it to the start line, it is part of the process to take it.

This is true. There was a whole lot of chaos in my life leading up to my recent race and it took a much larger toll than I realized come race day. Control what you can control. And don't beat yourself up over a missed run. And vent here as needed. At one point or another I think we've all had those times.

Wow burnout is going around. I don’t have any solutions but it must be normal at this point in a race cycle because everybody’s got it. I’d just say whatever you can do to keep it fun or at least bearable til your race. I agree with @SarahDisney when you’re depressed or anxious exercise is some of the best medicine. Even though it’s the last thing you may want to do.

It's natural to feel some burnout, and it becomes amplified when you have to push back the training plan a few more weeks like you did. Even if you can't/don't want to do the speed workout, then simply doing an easy 30 min or something is still beneficial. Hopefully once the temps finally calm down things will feel better again.

A little catching up:
- I somehow shook off my funk from the week and got in my 8 miles on Saturday and 11 miles on Sunday. The 11 miles were tough and I had to adjust some things, but I got it done.
- Monday was a rest day, but I got in some Yoga in the morning before work.
- Today was supposed to be 5 miles, but they were doing some stuff to the roads by my house and it messed up my run. I got in 4.25 miles. Better than nothing.

Race update:
- Well I signed up for the Oregon Women's Half Marathon last night. Check.
- And I booked my flight to Portland. Check.
- I am flying Spirit and can only bring a backpack with me. But the flight was only $90!!! I can survive with minimal packing for that price.

Other stuff:
- We decided to add on a day to our California trip. I fly in from Portland at 8am on October 8th and we are going to leave directly from there and go to San Diego.
- We got free tickets into Sea World because I am a Veteran, but now that I am calculating it out, we are only going to be able to spend 4 hours at Sea World if traffic agrees with us. YIKES. Fingers crossed.
- Now I am stressing about being packed for our California trip before my Oregon trip because I am the QUEEN of procrastination.
- Parenting has been pretty hard the past few days. UGH.

Say hi to Shamu for me :) (I kinda love Sea World and I've only been there once)

Also ... yay for being signed up for the race and for getting a super cheap flight!
