Bought a membership to Sam's Club

Well I purchased the Sam's Club membership for $35 with a free $10 and $15 egift card included. Also comes with a free pizza, and a couple of other things. Bought it because this is one heck of a deal, also hoping to use discounted Walmart gift cards to buy the Disney gift cards, and if all else fails just to see what kind of deals they have vs. Costco.

Got a question too, can I give the extra membership card to my sister-in-law? No she does not live in our house, but I want to gift it to her.

Their rotisserie chicken is better than any other place in town (where I live anyway). Try it.

I also loved their white cake with white buttercream frosting, but we haven't needed a big cake in awhile so I haven't had that lately.

Sams sent me a free membership offer a couple years back. They probably got ahold of my info and found out how much I spend at Costco each month and wanted part of the action :). I shopped a few times, at different stores, but never found anything that wowed me or made me want to continue shopping.

Let the membership expire and am sticking with Costco. We are just a Costco family!

Ya, we love Costco too, and it is closer to us, but I just wanted to give Sam's a try. Makes me think that Costco might be putting the hurt on Sam's with these discounts that are being released for new members.

As far as I know you can't "gift" the other membership card, but each membership comes with a "complimentary spouse" and you can select who that is. My MIL and I have been on the same account for years. We share it. I am considered the complimentary one and that works for me.

I got that deal too but still waiting on the 2nd $15 egift card with a purchase....did you get it yet?

I'm waiting on that also. Ordered Disney gift cards online about a week ago and received them, but not the $15. Also haven't been in the store yet, are the free cookies/chicken/pizza automatically on card and come off when you purchase it? I'm wondering about grabbing the right ones...

I haven't event really looked much at it since I bought it. I need to. I have got to get my printer working tonight and will print all the stuff out that I need and take it to Sam's either tomorrow or Thursday. I will double check on it later.

My friend and I split a membership. We had no problem listing two separate households and getting separate cards.

Make sure you pay attention sometimes all those free items are only good for 30 days. And yes they should automatically be on your card but if you got any kind of flyer showing that you are entitled to them with your membership, bring it just in case :-)

I did the Sam's Groupon offer too. It's been almost two weeks and I haven't received the $15 gc. I made my first online purchase immediately and received it. Did either of you ever receive yours, and if so, how long did it take? Also, did either of you go into the store to redeem those offers yet? I'm hoping to this weekend.

I haven't made a purchase yet, will do so soon. Might go this weekend as well to the store to get the physical cards.

I have memberships to both and have for years. I go to sams more often. It is more convenient for gas fill ups and our store is nice and quiet, vs the madhouse that is Costco.

Get the app...scan n go. You scan your items as you add them to your buggy and pay right on the app. Out the door you go without waiting in any line.

Also, they have click n pull. Order whatever you need online (even cold stuff) and they pull it and have it ready for you. Check in on the app when you are on the way and they will have it at the service desk ready to go. My store is working on rolling out curbside delivery like Walmart has...soon to come! Can't wait for that!

Yes you can. My BIL has had the extra membership card on my account ever since I joined. It was the Sam's associate who told me there was no problem giving the extra membership to someone in another household, and there never has been.

As someone mentioned earlier, the Sam's rotisserie chicken is excellent!

I have both Costco and Sam's. We have been Costco members for 10+ years. It's a great store but it's just so, so, so busy that I have begun to dread going. I jumped on the Sam's deal this past spring...between a GC that Sam's was offering, an Amex offer and some free items, the membership was more than free. I thought it would be fun to try and to compare the two. What I have discovered:

* Sam's is so much quieter, calmer and an overall, less stressful shopping experience. I get that this is because Costco is far more popular but I don't care. I have more sanity and less dread as I make my way to Sam's.
* I absolutely LOVE the Sam's scan & go app. It's so simple, and makes shopping and (not) checking out so easy.
* Yes, there are items I can only find at Costco and not at Sam's. However, I can deal with picking them up at Costco once a month and stocking up.
* I do get an essentially free Costco membership too. I am executive and easily get a check back each year that covers my membership plus some.
* No, Sam's isn't cool. Costco is cool. Everyone feels good about shopping at Costco but no one feels good about shopping at Sam's...let's be honest, it's Walmart in bulk sizing, and anyone who is anyone hates Walmart...right?? The area I live in, outside Denver, is hippy, crunchy, granola, cool, etc. This is not your Walmart loving people so Sam's is looked down upon here and Costco us uber great. However, I've found Sam's has many of the same products as Costco at the same prices (or better). If I am not up for the chaotic mess that is Costco, Sam's works just fine.
* Did I mention Sam's sells Disney GC's at a discount! I order online for best pricing!

well I just stopped at Sams last night to use my gc etc that I got for the groupon deal.... I just don't like the store that much. Most of the stuff they sell is the stuff you buy at walmart, and I'm not a fan of walmart foods overall. I was hardpressed to find enough to use up all my gc I had..... that said I do like how lax they are in there and how they don't care whp's using the membership card...at Costco they have tight card security like it's a huge deal and all..... but I much prefer costco foods in general, at costco i'd buy about 90% of what they sell,at Sams/ the opposite I'd buy about 10% of what they sell. prices are about the same here our sams gas is the same as all the nearby stations anyway... I won't go back unless I get another great offer to go in

I’m on the line with sams now. I made an online purchase immediately when I opened my account. It is now 20 days later and I still have not received my $15 gift card. The groupon said it would be received 7 business days after an online purchase. Sams says that it’s 14 buisiness days. I’m way over both and have called several times. Stumbled on this thread as I am holding to speak with a supervisor. Very frustrating...

100% my thoughts on all of this. And I think our sams is so quiet compared to Costco b/c, like wendow's, people here feel "cooler" going to Costco. This is a high income area and perception means alot to people. Well good for them...they can all go to Costco so my sam's experience stays amazing. ha!

This is interesting. Would you mind sharing an example of the foods. I find sams to have normal groceries. I hate places like Whole Foods, though, so maybe thats the difference. I am hard pressed to find anything to buy there.

Also interesting about the gas. Ours is significantly less at Costco and sams than at the gas stations...like $25-40cents less per gallon.
