Logistics of moving from Royal Pacific to Cabana Bay

Hi,
We will be staying 3 nights at RPR and 2 nights at Cabana Bay (no car). I'm wondering the most efficient way to do this. The morning of the 4th day we will be going to the US/IOA. I would need to move over to CBBR, check-in and head out to whichever park has EE. Since I will already have the FOL passes from RPR, would it be best to leave the luggage at RPR and check in later at CBBR or just get it over with early? I will be with my DD's 21 & 17 so they could come with me or meet me after I check-in. I've read there's a complimentary van (plus tip) but I'm not sure if it applies if going from deluxe to a non-deluxe. What way makes the most sense--is there a huge benefit to checking in early --choice of rooms, lines or anything else I should consider? This will be peak spring break timeframe.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, the complementary shuttle car won't take you to Cabana Bay (or from Cabana Bay to the other hotels.)

Just today, we moved from PBR to CBR. We had to take the City Walk shuttle which let us off at the same area where we could then pick up the shuttle to CBR. Other than the fact that the shuttle to/from the Deluxe hotels only seems to run every 30 minutes or so, it worked out just fine. The CBR shuttles are almost constantly heading out to/from City Walk so never seem to have much of a wait (and taking luggage onboard wasn't a problem as the shuttle wasn't very crowded at all.

The front desk did say we could take the water taxi to/from the Deluxe hotels to/from City Walk as well, but we didn't want to have to go through security at City Walk with all our luggage.

Another option, if you don't mind a $12.50 or so charge is paying for a hotel "taxi" to take you to CBR.

If RPR isn't too crowded (probably wishful thinking), you can ask for and maybe get a late check-out. I'm a Loews YouFirst elite member, so they are supposed to give me 3 hours from normal check-out. And once in awhile I actually get that, but it usually takes a bit of negotiating with them first. Even if you aren't a Loews YouFirst member, you can ask for a late check-out (they may well not give it to you, but it won't hurt to ask.) If you can swing it, then you can go out and hit the early morning EE and then around lunchtime head back, pack-up and transfer over to the CBR then. I prefer that to packing up and checking out early with the Concierge holding my luggage (or trying to move my luggage around that early in the morning.) :)

All great info and advise. I just plugged it into Lyft and it was $6.80 granted it's 9:30 pm EST. so that may change a bit but lyft or taxi might be my best bet for quickness.
I am a Loews YouFirst (not elite) but I booked my rooms with Undercover Tourist--it was $120 less--so late check out probably not an option but I will definitely ask.
Thanks!

I would check your luggage at RPR and go on in to the parks, then check in at CBR later. You already have the perks from RPR, so there is no real advantage to going on over there. Just enjoy the parks. They may be able to get your luggage over for you. We went from CBR to HRH and were able to arrange for the luggage to be transferred while we were at the park. We went without it and checked in so that we could get the front of the line privilege.

We did the same thing during spring break 2014 (RPR to CB). We left our luggage with the bell hop in the morning and checked out of RPR, then went to the parks to take advantage of the less busy times then. Later in the afternoon (4ish?), we went back to RPR and retrieved our luggage, and then took the shared shuttle over to CB (if we did it again I might use Uber).

In the future I would do the move in the opposite direction, as it you move "up" they will move your luggage for you, while they won't if you are "downgrading." In addition, we weren't crazy about not having a room during the middle of the day, as we love to take a few hours to relax in our room after lunch--and felt homeless the day we moved. Universal handled all the check-ins and check-outs smoothly--although it was not possible for us to check-out late or check-in early due to the busy time of year.

This! That's what we did in May. RPR will transfer your luggage for you, so you don't actually have to go to Cabana Bay at all until you're ready to BE there. :) And your RPR room key will work all day for express pass.

What did you do to get them to transfer your luggage to CB? we were there in Dec, on our last day at RPR we checked luggage in am, went to park, but then had to go back to RPR to get our luggage and take it ourselves to CB. We're going again in a couple weeks to do the same type of split stay and it sure would be easier to not have to deal with the luggage transfer!

Hi there seems to be some question about luggage transfer policy. Two years ago I had Hard Rock Hotel move my luggage to Cabana Bay resort for us. All I did was go to bell services and request it. When we got to Cabana bay that evening my luggage was there. This year we might do another split stay now with RPR and CBBR. I just called RPR directly and asked if I could have bell services move my luggage to CBBR for me mid stay and they said yes. You just have to ask bell services to do this. Just bring your luggage to bell services in the morning and put the request in. However, they will not give you a time that it will be there. Just something to think about if you will need stuff from it.

This seems to be very YMMV. I just called RPR to see if Bell Services could move our luggage to Cabana Bay and they said no, we would have to come back for our luggage and move to Cabana Bay by shuttle together.

I asked this very question about luggage to the guy at Bell services in the Rpr on Wednesday when we were checking out.
We are back in April and will be at RPR then Aventura. The guy told me they will move your luggage no problem. Aventura will have a luggage desk where I would need to pick it from after check in.

Its less than a 10 minute walk if you skip the walking path and use the tchop tchop road. About 1700 ish feet on google maps. Even shorter if you can cut through saphire falls (but that wasn't built last time I was there).

I can see many changes by the time this year is over for the transfer of luggage for the hotels

Loews you first ceases to exist December 6 2018

No more platinum perks or any perks is what the email I received from
Loews

A lot of the posts in this thread are from late winter this year

What was policy back then, no longer exists

We will have to wait and see what will be offered later this year for those changing from one hotel to another

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t offer such a service. As Universal grows more I’d think more guests will require this.
When I asked this week the bell service guy seemed genuinely surprised that I would question if this was a possibility.

I’m sure they will offer some way to relocate guests to other Loews onsite hotels but could have fees involved
