*** The Official August 2018 Thread*** - let's have some fun....

Just logged on to Southwest to check for price changes and it looks like our outbound flight is sold out. Glad I didn't wait any longer to buy them as that was the only real desirable flight to me on that day. Others were either departures prior to 7 am or over $200 or not getting in until after 10 pm. We got an 11:25 am departure which means we can get up at a normal time. And its non-stop. Hopefully it is the first flight of the day for our plane; but I'm betting it will be coming from somewhere else.

I think I'm going to go against what I usually do and go ahead and add EBCI. I usually only get it for our return flight so I don't have to worry about checking in while we are at the parks. 24 hours out though we'll actually be at my son's flag football game if it isn't cancelled; so I don't want to have to worry about not having a cell signal at the field or forgetting and not noticing my phone reminding me.

We waited til just recently to get flights too, I did mine onpoints, and I did get EBCI with it-I agree on not having to worry about getting a good spot! We are driving home with DD though, so only needed it for one way.

This is my dilemma currently still trying to find a flight home for us in the afternoon at a reasonable cost I may have to pull the trigger soon though if mid day flights don't come down just to make sure we even have a seat :sad2:

We were fortunate considering I originally planned to drive and only bought the tickets last week. I watched the prices for a while, spoiled by the deal I got on flights last year ($110 rt). But the outbound and return trip last year were both evening flights on a weekday. Our flight out is on a Sunday, non-stop and around lunch time so I got a decent price.

Our return is at 1:25 pm so I definitely feel you on wanting an afternoon flight back. Considering Magical Express picks up 3 hours prior, that is as early as I want it. It is hard enough the vacation is over without having to get up at O dark thirty.

Our return flight seems to still have plenty of availability; but we are returning on a Tuesday. I hope it works out for you.

Yeah I had the same dilemma we were supposed to drive and then had to change course. I thankful have a car for the week but I still am not trying to be at the airport at the crack of dawn with cranky kids lol

Plus I want to use the Last bit of the CL at AKL before we head out. :teeth:

Myself, DiL & GD for their first MNSSHP on the first night 8/17. Staying @ the Poly 8/15 - 8/20

I’ll be back down another party early Oct, but didn’t want to take GD out of school as she’ll be missing time for gymnastics competition.

Had a friend attend her first party the first night last year. She said it was an utter mess. They actually asked for and got replacement tix for another night.

Fingers are crossed they have it all together this year:duck:

We went to the first party 2 years ago and it was fine. We didn't have any problems. The biggest issue was going thru security - that took a while but otherwise it was a great party. Enjoy the Poly - we love the Poly.

That’s a relief to hear. I’ve been talking it up so much, would hate to disappoint them.

It’s their first stay @ the Poly, they are both over the moon!

You will have a blast. Dressing up was the favorite part of all of the kids. We had 8 kids with us (older kids ages 14-21 years old) and they all said it was the highlight of the trip. The only tip I can give is unless you line up at 4pm - wait until later for the Meet and Greets. We did most of our meet and greets after 10pm. Although they did stop the meet and greets before midnight - about 11:45pm - even if no one was on line - they stopped allowing people on line. Enjoy!

30 days to go and I just got my magic bands email! Now to obsessively track the package and pack for my “practice” childless trip next week with my girlfriend! I’ll get to see animal kingdom for the first time and do a relaxing version of magic kingdom (not the commando style with the kids). Trying Flying Fish, Yak and Yeti, and Monsieur Paul for the first time.

There is something, exciting, about an email saying your magic bands have shipped. :goodvibes

Yes, there certainly is!

We are driving home on the 7th and DD starts school on the 8th! She is turning 16 on the 6th so of course we want to celebrate in Disney that day! She is in high school so we don't get a shopping list until she goes to her classes. School keeps starting earlier for us every year.

Yup, isn't it great how in high school, they wait until every store is literally sold out of anything and everything you might need before they give you a shopping list.

I've never gotten a list for my kids before school starts. And since we start after Labor Day, it can be slim pickings.

Yup, always slim pickings for us. We usually start after Labor Day as well. I don't, for the life of me, understand why they can't give us the list at the end of the school year. It's not like this is new stuff to them, they undoubtedly require the same supplies year after year, just let us know early so we have the opportunity to shop the back to school sales, or us online vendors, and save some money on the stuff.
